Andrew sent the shirts to Zoombang and the pads have been added. It's going to be shipped to me tomorrow for testing at Gulf Wars so if you see me on the field, be sure to run up and hit me, noting any particularly painful responses. (no, I don't expect any. Re: Clam vs. finger gauntlets

I would never trust my hands to finger gauntlets. But then I'm a very forward pole arm fighter. I've been wearing the same pair of clamshells for 15 years or so, and had I been wearing finger gauntlets for that time, I'm pretty sure I would have broken 4 or 5 fingers. If I had insisted on finger ga...

Re: Is polearm harder than sword and sheild?

Aaron, I just don't buy that. The incremental cost, especially when you consider the costs of shields and replacements, is trivial. Most people spend as much in gas in a year as their armor. T I think the real reason is that most people are pushed to start as S&S and many stick to it and don't do a...

Re: unsolicited advice on fighting.

Ok, wait. I'm confused. Here's why. If you have two people of equal skill in teaching then will be able to teach better isn't true. If teaching *is* a separate skill, then two teacher of equal skill will be able to teach equally well. If we view teaching itself as a skill, that doesnt necessarily m...

Re: unsolicited advice on fighting.

We are very much a "prove it" society. If a person rocks on the field, they are asked for advice, if they just talk a lot and don't demonstrate ability, they get a bad reputation. Bjorn However, the common fallacy is that just because you can fight , you can also teach . That's not always the case....

Re: unsolicited advice on fighting.

So, when someone comes in from the outside and actually has some applicable experience, some Society members are going to balk (I'd be willing to bet that the ones who are going to balk are the same ones you shouldn't let talk to the press). We are very much a "prove it" society. If a person rocks ...

Re: Laminated Rattan vs Split Rattan polearm

It is a personal preference thing. I can readjust for hard (or soft) easier than "I need to crank it up if he steps i...
