Re: Will the BoTN change the SCA:s HF game?
Thank you for that summary Rob. I have been waiting to read such an account, and hope that more are coming from the other participants. To chime in on the original subject matter, i agree with what you are saying. The SCA system is fine. In my household, at our own events where no one is watching, w...

Mass grave from St Brice's Day Massacre?
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/science-environment-14476039 Bad day to be a dane on saxon land. No mention of artifacts or other finds with the bodies. Stripped and dumped? Interesting that the grave was at a neolithic monument. Would the danes have been pagans still at this time, or was this christian o...

Travel. Get outside of your regular area. Have a complete stranger at a big event tear your form apart. Or shock the system with something new.

Re: Can 2 light gauge helmets be combined for sca use?
An update for the curious: The proposed double helm approach was never attempted (thank goodness). He was made aware of the AA, and pointed to the many fine merchants able to craft helms much more suitable for the purpose. He drifted away from fighting, and has since moved. Not sure if he's pursuing...

Iron age hill fort mass burial
Apologies if this has been posted allready or elsewhere. If this is the case, the mods may delete this thread. Long story short: Archeologists opened up a section of the ditch ringing the fort, found bodies of women and children within, covered by the remnants of the stone wall that had been dismant...

Re: How do you carry your back up weapon?
Tried the boot daggger for while, but found that it was getting me killed in the draw process. I think being over 6" made the time spent getting it a liability. Moved to a vitus sheath and couldnt be happier... I drop my hand and it hits the handle, no leg lift, no crouch, nothing. Hand goes down, g...

Re: Armed to the teeth (SCA).
Dagger on the right hip, Sword or axe on the left. Spear in the right hand, lucerne hammer in the left. One or the other is discarded at first engagement depending upon what should be most effective. Point of discard is noted, i've run back many times when a spear duel has changed into a static shie...

re-evaluate your expectations. What is more important to you: 1. fighting 2. Looking decent while fighting. 3. Looking great (while fighting). if #1, downgrade what you are trying to do. Ignore the trolls and get a cheap set of sport based armour. Use the ungodly pickle barrel. It is more important ...

Can 2 light gauge helmets be combined for sca use?
Hello All I have a new SCA fighter that has taken the initiative to equip himself in a somewhat independent fashion. Unfortunately, I'm concerned about his approach. He has gone and purchased a light gauge helmet which has a specific look that he's after, and he plans to have a second, light gauge h...
