Re: Where to Commission Armor

Thanks for the information. So far I am just dipping my toe back in in the water. Trying to remember what is what. I may try to make it to Pennsic in the next year or two. First goal is lose weight (down 16 pounds so far) and be in fighting form by next Gulf Wars.

Where to Commission Armor

I have been out of the loop/SCA for a long time and am thinking of getting back in. If I were to do that, who should I contact to obtain some armor? Is Master Knuut still making chain mail? Looking to recreate some of my old armor, which was mostly made by White Mountain Armoury, who no longer makes...

High Tech "Lorica" Armour

Meet the Lorica, a new suit of high-tech armor named after the armor worn by the Roman legions. It's made from a blend of lightweight, flexible materials and comes with Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity, a point-of-view camera, a microphone and 52 pressure sensors that send data to an external compu...

Edward has first dibs on the stand. UlrichvR has second dibs on the stand. Lord Kiaus of the Barony of Roaring Waste in the Midrealm made this stand for me. You can most likely contact him via legiodraconis.com. I do not have the plans for this stand. As for the clothing, SI-Armoury beat everyone ou...

Drogo selling the clothes of his back (plus an armor stand)

Continuing on with the theme of cleaning out my SCA closet, I am selling off some of my finer pieces of garb (and and armor stand). First up is one of my favorite men's cotehardies my wife ever made me. It is made from a faux velvet and finished with gold buttons. Nothing says luxury like this outfi...

Re: Drogo's Enormous Armour Sale

Another round of PMs sent out.

Information update: I misspoke about the weight of the coat of plates. Earlier in this thread I stated it was 19 pounds. According to the scale at UPS it is 12 pounds. As of right now I have 2 prior dibs on this item. If it does not sell, I will update this thread.

Re: Drogo's Enormous Armour Sale

The gorget there is one of my early ones, one of the first 100. Looks like its held up quite well. Pretty cool to see one from years back. I have had this gorget for close to a decade and it has seen some heavy use. You would not have guessed that from looking at it. It has been one of the very few...

Re: Drogo's Enormous Armour Sale

To bigfredb, I wear a 40" jeans or a 42" dress slack and the C-belt fits me fine, with enough holes and slack to go an inch or 2 in either direction. BTW a little plug for Pitbull here, these are the best method I have ever used for keeping my cuisses in place even with a set of metal knees on them....

Drogo's Enormous Armour Sale

I have stopped playing in the SCA due to the general life issues, work and such. My loss is your gain. I now have a serious glut of armour on my hands that I am not using. A set of strapped mild steel shynbaulds from Mad Matt. They fit me great and I am 14" from center of the knee to the ankle bone....

Well this is what I was able to get together for the CoTT. I was in desperate need of some maille. This is me with Mad Matt, the armourer that made my gauntlets, shynbaulds, and sabatons. Matt you rock. http://i279.photobucket.com/albums/kk134/dpkrause/Pennsic%2040/Pennsic4057-1.jpg http://i279.phot...

Re: SCA at an evolutionary cross-roads (A discussion)

Cost + effort > fun + enjoyment Events are becoming repetitive and stagnant. I have no polite way to say this but there are some very socially inept people representing the SCA. Solutions: Fewer, but higher quality, events. Filter who gets to recruit. I admit, this coming Pennsic will most likely be...

Re: Early Transitional Knight, France, 1310-1330

Here is what I have so far. This is a slightly different kit. One that I am putting together as an experiment. I need to find my fancy belt, adding a fancier surcoat, and I am getting a poleaxe from Sir Vitus. Feedback would be appreciated. Will it be good enough to fight in the CotT?

Now that you mention it.. yes that. Been so focused on getting the 14th century stuff together, it tends to be at the forefront of the brain.

Here I am in the latest clothing made by my wife:

Re: Changing SCA Name/Persona

Agreed not in court... would be cool if I could make a production of dying on the battle field and have my body carried off followed by an in camp funeral/Irish send off. The only problem with that is it would probably freak out the marshals and others on the field when they hear someone died.

Changing SCA Name/Persona

Over my life in the SCA my persona has changed quite significantly, mostly thanks to my wife and the AA. I have gone from the genericelt, Dan the Clueless to Drogo D'Auvilla the Norman Crusader. Now I am firmly entrenched in the 14th century and the name Drogo doesn't quite fit. I have completed som...
