Re: German Museums

If you are in the east at all, GO TO DRESDEN! Beautiful town. Go to every museum you find in Germany. The Archaeological Museum in Berlin was impressive but I dont remember if there was armor there. You are going to love seeing all of the slaughter swords. One of them had a scabbard made from the no...

Re: Want to Buy ACL Armor

Most steel and stainless steel armour will work for the ACL. Its just that if you wear 16 mild, its going to be heavy and need constant repair. That guide is pretty good and Elswick is a great guy. The things not to go cheap on is the helmet and gaunts. My helmet is 12ga 304 stainless and has held u...

I hope to, one day, be surprised by a battered box with customs handling marks all over it to arrive at my door and I will have an extra pair. I forgot to mention the weight. Each leg weighed in at just a tad over 3.5 lbs. (1.6kg). They feel very light on. I whacked the cuisse with my falchion and i...

Review of Forge of Svan

I ordered an instock 1mm tempered spring steel articulated leg set from Forge of Svan in early December. The cost of the legs was about $200 plus shipping. The transaction went smoothly, they do take PayPal (with an added charge of 13%) and with that charge and shipping it was less than $300. Forge ...

So you have a tracking number? I had an issue with a gambeson that had a similar tracking status. I initiated a claim with the USPS and received in in nine days. if the tracking number starts with an R it is international registered mail.

I love the D guard, but most of us are moving away from them. They started enforcing the rule that you have to document your weapon to your harness and that makes a one handed D guard a hard thing to documnet. I would reccomend axes of you are on a budget. The hit hard and are pretty cheap and its e...

Being from the SF/Bay area give you a huge advantage. You have local armourers who fight ACL and can get you going. You also have a huge group of fighters to practice with and actually practice melee skills.

If you have a limited budget, ACL/BOTN/HMB may not be the sport for you. If it is one thing it is expensive. It doesnt have to break the bank but even cutting corners it is pretty rough. Good luck, there is used gear floating around now, but make sure you are safe.

I think the Fabri Armorum sword might be your best bet. Remember, if you use a vendor that hasnt been approved, Jaye is going to hit an anvil with it as hard as he can to see if it is strong enough. The good thing about KultofAthena is that you can ask them to test the sword to see if its legal for ...

Thicker straps, both in width and leather thickness are better for ACL combat. Between fight repairs suck. One blown strap and you let your team down.
