Re: I WTB Rus c. 1200

This is my current kit- its supposed to be Kyiv right around 1400 so a bit late than the 1200 OP though the lamellar and the helmet styles are within reason 1200 though I think. I do take some creative license with the timeline of some of it- the bazis and lower legs are of a style thats a bit later...

Re: 2017 Show Us Your Kits!

These were taken earlier this year on my last practice as a squire. Nothing much but the belt, spurs and chain has changed. Sometimes I don't wear the skirt. Usually I fight with an almond shaped kite shield but the paint scheme is almost identical to the heater in the pics. Sabatons of some sort ar...

I agree with Scott and Violen on this- To me- Bar mace = "I don't know how to throw with proper form with a sword and i don't know how to actually use a proper mace so I'm going to rules lawyer this thing that does neither well into play" Mace with basket (or axe) = I don't really understand how and...

Done. Sent this thread to four armourers- three I know personally, two of whom I have things from and one I think very highly of though I don't personally have anything from him, and a fourth in Russia I think who's stuff I see online often and who has a great eye for aesthetics too. Something about your posts sounds like a high potential for the kind of drama and headaches I hear armourers lament about. Since three of the four names I can think of are people I think of as friends to varying degrees I'm going to send them this thread rather than volunteer them. Good luck, hope y...

looking to buy or trade mail rings

I have about five kilograms of 9mmID flat, wedge rivet mild steel loose rings that I'm not going to use. Riveting tool and a roughly 6X 12in. started piece of alternating solid ring mail included. Should be enough to, combined with solid rings, do a whole hauberk for a mediums sized person Will sell...

BOTN is an event done by Historic Medieval Battles, kind of like Pennsic is anevent by SCA ( I know, its not but for the case of simplicity let's pretend) ACl is the US Armoured Combat League and while they used to fight st BOTN under HMB, when International Medieval Combat Federation was created AC...

I ave one of Jestyrs long aventails on my newest helmet. I actually like it better than the welded aventails on my other helmets- looks more right. 8mm alternating row. I plan to get a shirt of the same in the not too distant future. Well worth the price https://www.facebook.com/baltimoreknife/photo...

The SCA will never be as a whole a vehicle for accurate historical re creation. It was never that. It won't ever be that. Get over it already. If you want something more authentic go do it or start it. Plenty of people have. If you want more authenticity in the SCA stop bitching about it and cultiv...

Absolutely. Sometimes in order to make a point, it's necessary to do it with impingement. Since I've bee...
