Re: Attaching an aventail
Count the number of links on the top row, then divide by four to give your your locatin quarters. Divide the mail into 4 equal quarters by tying string to the link. Tack the 4 quarters to your attachment strap at the proper spot (the face opening gets defined first), then adjust the link spacing as ...

Re: Combat of the 30?? How did it go?
I hadn't thought of it in respect to the SCA cookie culture, but more along the story of Froissart seeking out living participants for his work, and finding even the least of them famous to an extent in their own region. I have never needed an outward sign of my activities, but sometimes it is nice ...

Adam: You and the Priory are missed more than you know, and were discussed at some length this year. If any of you can make the return to the 30, please find a way, your lack has been felt. If any of you is too injured to fight, please attend and act as Kings of Arms. I would heartily echo Johannes...

After a few years on the sideline with an injury, I got to fight again this year. This and the deed we fought a couple days later made this my favorite Pennsic in a long time. I just use white glue and the wedges to hold these on, if it loosens, drive another wedge in. If it continues to be an issue, try crossdrilling the guard at an angle and then use a shovel rivet from the hardware store for go through the rattan. The angle helps keep the stress of blows from breaking ...

So you're comparing a premium machined pommel to our standard cast one in an "unbiased" review of a product you sell? Nice. Our premium turned wheel pommel has an oblong hole and a deeper mounting well, btw and is in the same price range as the Hessen one at a fraction of the weight if you are looki...

Gregoire, Working off the cuff since I'm not at the office, I believe the tips all come with 6- 1.5" diameter discs of 1/8" thick 2# EVA foam. The discs are meant to be used as needed to make the tip work on various thicknesses of rattan shaft, the larger the shaft, the fewer disks are usually neede...

Re: Knuut discontinuing Ti Maille?
Only for TI, I think he's going to go to round wire to ease the wear on his machines and because it will be more durable. His stainless stuff will still be flat ring. And this could change tomorrow if he decides to keep doing it the old way. I know he had me pull the order feature off his web site a...

Re: Knuut discontinuing Ti Maille?
We discussed it last week, he's probably going to shift away from the flat wire, as it is eating up his link makers something fierce, and durability has been an issue. I know he's tired of fixing aventails that get set over grills, lol.

Looks like we got cleaned out of these at Gulf and Estrella, as I only have one left. They are machined from 6061 and usually shipped with a tumbled finish. The center hole is oblong. I'll be making a restock order very soon.

We have a machined flat guard, as well. I designed it for people who were trying to get away from the up sweep. As it turns out, I can't find it on the web site, it may have gone missing on the last site upgrade. I'll see if I can get that straightened out this week.

Thanks, guys! The shipping Calculator we use is barely even a guideline, so we try to make sure we do right by our customers. Anita does a great job of keeping everything sorted out (I'll make sure she sees this), and shipping is expensive enough without us helping it along!

I got enough emails about this thread I thought I'd jump in. These fittings have been produced off and on for the last ten years, first by Mandrake Armory, then by us. They were made from a clay sculpted model by a talented craftsperson (definitely not me...) and are lost wax cast by an art bronze c...

Windrose makes my favorite ones, but are sadly often out of stock. I have one of the GDFB ones, which can be had through various resellers (I got mine from Therion), and it suffices, but I think Windrose's are superior. Which one are we out of stock on? I'll check our stock. We did just put a bunch...

I thought I should jump in and clarify something, even though it contradicts one of Omarad's statements. We've had lengthy conversations about the tip use on fibreglass, but I may not have been clear in regards to rattan. The 2HTT was originally designed with scalable padding to allow for moderating...

Shipping costs are one of the real struggles we go through. If we ship it USPS Priority, it ends up costing only a dollar more than it does First Class, and it is a lot less trouble. If we send it out in a stamped envelope, I can't track it, or I have to send a person to the PO to stand in line. I w...
