Re: Study Session - North Carolina, June/July 2014

I am hoping that I can actually make it this year, but I know I cannot make it on June 28/29. If the date is for that weekend, I'll try for 2015. If not, I'll keep an eye on this thread and do my best to make it. Starting a new job on 4/14 that will be 1st shift, so I won't have to work around havin...

Re: Gauging interest in c&t helms

A lot of the C&T community in Atlantia are starting to move to a more period helm. There is a lot of interest in C&T period helms, but not a lot of suppliers. IceFalcon makes a wonderful helm, just out of most people's price range. James Carey (TaluntheB on the archive) makes an awesome one as well ...

Re: Help with understanding a picture.

Wow! Thank you Konstantin and Ernst! That was very helpful! Well crap. I really liked the lines of the image, and as a period image, was hoping that it would be correct for that period. I see what you mean about the artist not knowing his armour, and just painting a picture from what he thought armo...

Help with understanding a picture.

Ok. Question for the group. In the pic below, would the guy be wearing a gambeson under the chain? I assume so, but wanted those who have more knowledge to sound off. What is he wearing over the chain? This is from a painting from 1405. Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you for any help!

Re: 2013 study session - any interest? Help me plan.

Two from SC that I know of. Will have to see the date for the third (his being part of BotN, we will have to see).

I am interested in both full suit and the 16th C. Rapier. With Cut-&-Thrust making huge strides, it would be good to see what people will be looking for.

Sincerely,

Are the "divots" in the sea-dragon cast, or do you drill them out? If cast, how did you pull that off?

Re: Hokey SCA Blazon question

They are. Is that in reference tho the inverted wing comment? If so based on what evidence? If it is then that opens up options to so many people for heraldic birds. I would have never thought to just invert the wings, and it still looks cool. Historical evidence. Here is a link to a page on the No...

Seems to me you could use the animal head masks at Archie McPhee for similar purposes, if you're looking for something quick and somewhat easier to pack (they have a chicken , duck , giraffe , horse , pig , pigeon , rat , squirrel , and unicorn ). Btw, you can see some more 14th century mummers & m...

Those wings are inverted. So: Gules, on an eagle displayed, wings inverted sable, a crescent Or.

Alchem blades, for the money, just aren't up there as far as quality goes (imo). If you are assembling your own rapier/sword, Zen Warrior Armory has decent deals on blades that are custom length. His process (almost) guarantee's the blade will pass no matter what length it is. ZWA is definitely on t...
