My review of Viking Leathercrafts
So yeah like everyone always says how awesome Frank and his products are. Well I bought a pair of his boots a couple years ago after I won crown and needed another pair of shoes. They were great, fit like a glove and looked spectacular. Well that isn't my review. I had worn the vibram to shreds by l...

Re: Æthelmearc Fall Crown
This really is an intriguing list. Very hard to make any predictions. Lots of top notch fighters and very few from the shallow end of the skill pool. Malcolm is always a deadly contender and I hear he's been training. Sir Angus has been pretty hot in his last few crowns. I'm pretty sure Duncan is go...

Re: AEthelmearc Spring Crown Tournament
I can definitely see Malcolm(I believe he's been training and is always solid plus he is an intelligent fighter when he's serious about a tourney), Henri(not just because he's my knight but because if the real "Henri" shows up everyone else might as well stay home, he was on fire at gulf wars), and ...

LOL Sir Finn, I would never make a prediction about myself. I will as always do my best. I am quite prepared and eager to represent myself and my lady for the glory of Æthelmearc. However it is interesting to hear what others think when these lists come out.

We did have throwing hammers a few years back but they got banned due to construction issues.
Also by the wording of these rules you can technically throw a polearm?

I highly reccommend Pearce Redsmythe at http://www.rencraft.com. He made our coronets as well as several others for Aethelmearc royalty. Not really "budget" though. I'm not sure of communication through the website but he can be reached at william@rencraft.com.

Re: Hose Clamps vs Duct Tape for basket attachment
I too use the duct tape-rope method. Over the years I have frustrated myself with hose clamps. With me it wasn't so much that they came loose but that the damn things break at the worst possible moments. Then again I block alot of shots on the top of the hilt which evidently stresses the hell out of...

Re: Aethelmearc Crown
This list can go soooo many ways. There are alot of unbelts here that can seriously ruin the day of some of the upper tier guys. Notably Havoc, he's been so very close many times and if he can get to the shield restricted format of the semis he will be a very dangerous man. Tiberius as well generall...

I'm not about to get on a soapbox but I would like to try and clarify a couple things. We really wanted to do more things for more people to give them the war they wanted this year. We understood that whatever we came up with would not please everyone and there would be some bitching no matter what....

Re: Fighting Spear and Shield?
Alrec,
spear and shield can certainly be done and done successfully. Its just not easy and like anything else you have to practice.
A slight correction on max length. Ae uses society rules. 9' is max for Pennsic. Any other time 12' is the max in Aethelmearc.
