I have heard of inter library loan, ask if your local one can get it on ILL, it may take time but then you can read it before you decide to buy it elsewherebrigand wrote:Thanks for the tips. I have a feeling my local library doesn't have that book (they barely have books at all)

if I was making it into a dishing hammer I would not use the whole bolt, I would use just the head of it to add to the head of a suitable sized hammer like maybe a 7 pound sledge

Re: drilling stainless
a friend had a stainless drilling job to do, over 500 holes IIRC about 5/8", he spent a lot of money on a set of cobalt drills that only went to 1/2" and before getting half way through had the bit totally blunt, he tried a second smaller bit in a new hole and welded the bit in, yes with coolant and...

Re: Breastplate from a can?
maybe I a non armourer should have a go to see if even I can make something that looks ok, I can get it cut easily from the dxf. if I can manage it anyone can, I would try it at half size but out of quite thick steel to make the welding easier for my first try, maybe 12 g / 2mm I will be using a mig...

8" 200mm ballstake in the UK
I have half of an 8" solid steel ball that I could make into a stake if someone needs it, will wait to weld on the shank till I know size and length needed.
THIS IS IN THE UK
looking for £80 for it with a simple shank, a bit more if you want something different, anyone in need

Re: Breastplate from a can?
have learnt a lot from this thread, I can weld but cant make armour, I can shape thick metal easily like 3/8" thick hot or cold but cant do much with thin stuff ( yes I have a press or two ).
at this rate I may have to make the 8" solid steel hemisphere into a stake

Re: Last Carlos kit left over. (SOLD)
postal services here are just as bad, it is well known that items marked fragile are often thrown around or kicked, I once had to send a six inch diameter steel ball by post and put a fragile sticker on it, maybe it taught a few postal workers a lesson
