Kari Garanhirsson of the Middle Kingdom, 2016. Trying to be 10% better every year! Next step is Knutt welded stainless mail, Age of Craft mail over brig mitts, a new gambason of linen as this one is cotton, and period buckles on my lamalar. For the next year it's replacing the paracord lacing on th...

Re: Quiver and/or protective storage for arrows?

Reading this post inspired me to try my hand at an arrow bag. I watched the tutorial by bigbowbrun on YouTube for instruction in detail. I knocked it out in around 2.5 hours. It was my first time hand sewing anything beyond a hole in a tunic or stitching a knife sheath, so it was slow going. I used ...

Re: Non-Laurels Only! Please post your work!

So, I made a hnefatafl set. Click the picture to see the album http://i.imgur.com/GsLbolOl.jpg The regular pieces are carved out of 5/8" dowel while the king is 3/4". I'm still debating drilling holes in the underside and inserting a bit of fishing weight lead because they're REALLY light. Also at ...

The cops are plastic too, but bomb proof. I wear floating cops identical to these on my knees. Just without the full leg harness.
The sizing is one size fits most. Use a heat gun to fully custom fit. I have not altered them in that regard.

New and never fought in. There are a few scuffs from being moved around the armour closet. Asking $170 with free shipping (A savings of $10+$20 shipping if bought new). I prefer Pay Pal but can do money orders. http://i763.photobucket.com/albums/xx277/oni_saken/Mobile%20Uploads/IMG_20150607_18382941...

Re: round shield/rawhide edging

1) I would advise no closer than 3 inches.
2) no.
3) Overlap a bit. I would advise stitching the ends together and doing the "stretch on" method Lorccan and I talked about. Then tack it afterward once it has shrunk some.

Re: round shield/rawhide edging

How do you have the shoulder strap on there? I've found it convenient a few times having one (especially at those events where you have to walk a milk to the field). I just drilled two holes about an inch apart and made a cord loop through them. I then ran the leather guige/belt vertically through ...

Re: round shield/rawhide edging

You don't actually need another piece of wood for a handle. Just cut out a capital D and then move over about an inch and cut another D but reversed so that the flat sides are facing one another. This keeps your hand in the boss and helps the balance and control. Just rivet a piece of flat bar down...

I also wish to praise Ylsa's product. I have a green tunic from her that has been my ONLY fighting tunic for going on 4+ years and it is still holding strong. Mind you, that I wear a maille shirt directly on top of it when I fight, and it is still hale and hearty. http://i763.photobucket.com/albums/...
