Overdue +1 for Accdntprone and Jestyr (Custom chainmail)
I ordered a norse raven ocular spangen from Accndntprone (John Kellum) in early April. He kept me updated with photos and on the status. It was pretty much finished within a week (give or take a few days due to weather). I had it a couple weeks after I ordered. I also ordered a tall aventail from Je...

Now that this is happily sold I can say: I'm so very glad you put a beard on that chin. It looked awfully scrotal when it was bare, lmao.

Scott posted a problem, Acc asks him to take it private, Scott keeps posting, Acc blows up, Acc discovers mistake and makes it right with helmet *and* refund, everyone gets what they wanted.

I recall a post where the entire shipment of armor/helmets was stolen off his porch. As far as I know everything was replaced with no complaints here on the AA. I'd trust this guy with my money. I regularly recommend newbies to look for his work.

WTS Stainless Chainmail Haubergeon
I have a flat ring, dome riveted, stainless KoA haubergeon that's just a little too small for me. It's an XL, but the definition of XL seems to vary. I'd really have to call it in between a Large or an XL. It's true to their size and it does fit me once it's on but getting over my wide shoulders is ...

Re: Non ad hoc shield press
Sean and Kon, Yes that is exactly my issue. The glue gets slick. I leave it so it gets sort of tacky but even then the glue allows the wood to slip and slide all over. I have been using the 5mm stuff as well but find it is near impossible to keep them lined up as I am strapping them down. That said...

Re: Possibly WTB - Cuisse Splints
I used the mild steel from a hardware store on my first legs which end up being rather heavy and bend pretty easily. I tried the thick aluminum on my last pair and they're lighter but also prone to bending. Gaston makes the ones I was thinking of. I knew I'd seen them someplace but I couldn't rememb...

Possibly WTB - Cuisse Splints
Is anyone making cuisse splints these days? I'm okay making my own splinted armor but I need to lighten up from using armor bend leather and hardware store steel. Something light that doesn't dent immediately is all I really need, material isn't especially important.

I don't think I've seen him post anything lately but Accdntprone here on the archive makes some sweet starter viking helms. I think he may have a long queue at the moment though.

If these fit someone's kit and arms, you WANT them. You won't regret it. I'm always a fan of telling people about gear that saves me from serious injuries. I just ordered a pair of cotes. I wasn't entirely clear on sizing, though. I requested both in Large, because I'm 5'11", 220lbs, and wear a size 42-44" suit jacket. Am I right in assuming that a large is big enough? I'm 6'4", 220-230ish*cough*depending on the scale*cough,* 46/48" shirt and I had an...

Adric will make good on it. I bought something from him in person at Border Raids last year which ended up not fitting. He let me return it by mail and sent me a replacement. Communication was a little delayed but he had family reasons.

Re: Fair price for a sugarloaf....
I don't know if I'd say that price is "far" too low, but it's probably lower than it should be. A starter sugarloaf (my favorite type) with brass and color options that looks good should start with that price. I don't feel it would be unreasonable to say $300ish, but I have no idea of metal pricing,...

Re: Building a Milanese Sallet - progress (pic heavy)
When I tried a spangenhelm I ended up with what can only be described politely as "a jaunty angle." It was completely lopsided to the left and I wasn't quite sure what caused it. If you hadn't pointed it out I probably would have missed it. It's a great looking helmet.
