Mad Matt, Paging Mad Matt

Trying to get ahold of Mad Matt from Mad Matt's armory. I'm trying to check on my order status. It's been about 23 weeks, I was quoted at 16 weeks. I understand there was some medical issues that slowed you down. Just checking to see if I'll get my armour any time soon.

Handgonne Help

I bought an RBG this weekend and after looking at the design I thought, "You know what, Aziz, you could do something like this" and now I'm spiraling down the rabbit hole. I want to go a bit earlier though, 15th century hand cannon style. Has anyone done this? Does anyone have some resources they co...

Interesting DIY Input Needed

Greetings, Archivers Has anyone taken a regular run of the mill object and turned it into anything armor or SCA related? For instance, a friend of mine took a shot put, welded it to a stake and used it as a planishing stake. Out here in my part of antir, retired bluejeans are safety wired to rapier ...

I am no longer in need of Bazubands. I will be making some with the help of some people in my barony.

Re: WTB Bazubands

He asked me what material and finish. I told him I wasn't sure but I want it to be sca legal.
He asked me if I fought and I told him I was pretty new.
He told me "Fight more and figure out exactly what you want"

Pointed tip riveted on ME helm help

Howdy, folks.
How do you make that pointed tip riveted on to the top of a lot of middle eastern and Byzantine helms? Anyone know of any photo or video tutorials that could help me out?

WTB Bazubands

I'm upgrading my kit from "SCA Legal" to being a proper Saracen (and likely a secondary crusader kit but that's neither here nor there). As a result, I need bazubands. I would prefer metal but leather is cool too as long as it will pass a marshal's inspection. Let me know if you want to make a deal....

Re: Armourers near Tacoma area

I've made initial contact with the two baronies that I might be living in. There are a few crusaders there according to Facebook (even though it's a guy who knows a guy). Worst case scenario, I just begin to form my own chapter (advice from a friend who is a Secular Brother in their ranks). It's kin...

Re: Armourers near Tacoma area

I may be mistaken then. I thought by the 3rd Crusade they just started covering their face. I may be mistaken. The period isn't as important to me specifically as the look. I want to be a Hospitaller from "the crusades". My major thing is maille, a gambeson, a fighting tunic, and hiding as much armo...

Re: Armourers near Tacoma area

It's not a PCS. I'm a civilian now. We're just moving out there because of the job market and so I can help take care of my dad. It's pretty much once I find a job (or at the start of the next semester at the college I'm eyeballing) then I'll move, and in the summer the wife and kids will follow me ...

Armourers near Tacoma area

Howdy, folks. As I posted in the off-topic section, I'm moving near the Tacoma area near Lewis McChord. If this doesn't belong in this section, Mods, I apologize and respectfully request that you move it. Does anyone know of any armorers (professional or amateur) near that area? I need a new helm th...

Re: Equipping a Household - Shield Press

Follow up (should have put it in my other post) At least one guy wants to go with the kite shield route. The viking round looks good but I don't think it fits our tactics. Since the household is still in a forming phase we have plenty of time to get things together. We might be leaning towards the A...

Re: Equipping a Household - Shield Press

The guy I think you're thinking of is James (I don't know his SCA name and don't want to throw his last name out on a public forum). After the new year our household planes to invade Jacksonville though. They have more fighters than our puny 4.5 (Wilhelm is recovering from surgery) so we are plannin...

How much should we be our brothers' keeper? If you're working with a friend who doesn't want to wear ears and eyes, do you refuse to work with him or let him learn the hard way? We're only working with a jigsaw and plastic but I feel my safety Nazi coming out of me.

Re: Equipping a Household - Shield Press

It should be noted patterning is a lot cheaper in the design phase. Planning on constructing one in poster board or poly fabric will save time and money when it comes to building with quality materials. Ducktape body doubles are useful. Fortunately for me, I work in a grocery store and have access ...

Re: Equipping a Household - Shield Press

I've gotten links and patterns from James. Lord Wilhelm der Munich is taking us under his wing on what he can teach us. Update: It was decided that round shields were more economical. I disagree but we all made our points and decided democratically so not many complaints from me. Last Night, one of ...

Review Request - Illusion Armoring

Hey guys, As of right now I'm the only person in my household with full SCA Legal Kit. We're all pretty low on the financial totem pole and I'm trying to help them come up with the most cost-efficient way to get on the field and as everyone knows, the helm is the most expensive part of a newcomer's ...

Equipping a Household - Shield Press

Howdy, folks. My household has voted to focus on (in addition to Service to the SCA) heavy melee fighting. More specifically, practicing together as a unit. This involves a lot of things, but for the sake of this thread, we're interested in all rocking Center Boss Kite Shields. We have plans for mak...
