Aaron, I was all set to kick in $20 but read to the end of the thread first where I see you've called hold. If you can figure out what to do with more money then I'm in. Could pass any extra to JT; just a though, he he. Anyway, it's cool what's happening here. Now, to stir the pot a little because w...

Re: Supplier of canvas wedge tents - am I missing anyone?
I looked hard and ended up with the Fall Creek Suttlery. It was Inexpensive and has served well, mostly at Pennsic the last couple of years. The thing I don't like about it is the door overlap isn't as much as I'd like. That said it does nice and didn't break the bank. Here's the thread with a ton o...

Re: Need some help with measurements
For future reference, you may want to make sure the helm measurements are taken from inside the helm at the browline too. It never occurred to me to do that until i got a helm from someone who measured the outside; they weren't an armourer.

Create and maintain a taxonomy of tags. Apply tags to URLs. Use db querries to populate pages ala dmoz. Make submission to wayback machine for any page you tag. When links rot, point to wayback machine. Keep the tagging structure simple so its not a burden to use.

Re: If folks wouldn't mind providing some feedback...
What's the difference? I mean that if I were to practice more frequently that my game would improve and if I were more physically fit I could keep up my intensity during a bout. It wouldn't take much of an improvement in my baseline fitness (stamina) before the fight specific training (conditioning)...

Re: Plans for a coat of plates of sorts
It looks like the plates gap at the solarplexus. This area needs to be protected because there is a small bone called the zyphoid process attached to the end of the breast bone that is vulnerable to a thrust. The trouble with this pointy little bone breaking off is the blood rich liver beneath it. O...

The best teacher I ever had was the one who taught me something I didn't know I'd learned ;-) In the SCA I'm such a noob. Roughly there are two groups I've fought in the SCA. Those who are much much better than I am. I rarely land anything good on them because they defend so well, and expose so litt...

Good stuff here! I would add get-in-get-out. That is, close to cross into range, throw your shots and get back out of range safely. As was said pay attention to your feet (move them first) and don't just stand and deliver, aka don't be a pell :-). The other thing is sheild practice. It'll help you d...

Re: Historical blacksmith's ear protection
Yeah, I was watching so video at Revision3 and they were talking about hearing protection. They described using wet toilet paper in a pinch at a show, and specifically not dry paper because it can move out of position and is more permeable. The point was this was better than nothing. So my late nigh...

Re: Historical blacksmith's ear protection
Wet toilet paper is a modern make-do that affords some protection. So, perhaps some wet lint? Not that I know of any record, but materially it's plausible.
