Re: Moving Auction - Smaller Arms/Legs/cbelt
Well, the second picture shows that it has three holes (from memory, the second hole was the most fitting at 36"), but there is still plenty of room on the tongue to make it a little larger/smaller. However, the back panel is static. Based on the item descriptions on Pitbull's site, there is a 4" or...

Looks like someone close to home wants the arms/legs as a set, so I am pulling them down before there are any bids.
The gauntlets are at $60 to hornsofodin and the cbelt at $15 to Urdok at the moment!

Hello everyone! It’s been a little while since I have posted, and a lot has changed. Re: Hybrid Sport Armor: My quest for extra protection
A number of COPs don't really have heavy spine protection. Sounds like you could just add a few more plates to extend the protection all the way around the back. If you have a nearly assembled COP, you probably have enough experience to "fill in the gaps" with some more plates. Just put in a rough s...

Re: Hybrid Sport Armor: My quest for extra protection
Can you be a bit more clear about how you are assembling the coat of plates and how you feel your back/spine protection is lacking? Does it currently have back plates, for example? Are the plates not distributing force far enough away from your spine? Details will definitely improve the suggestions,...

Looks all riveted, judging from the top-right picture which shows rivets in neighboring rows. I'm guessing mild due to the color.

Who knows, maybe you can work out a payment plan? I just wanted to jump in and say that an exchangeable mask option, if available, is very convenient. Where do you intend on doing re-enactment combat (i.e. do you have a group in mind)? This is basically a required piece of information since you can find 18ga "wearable" helmets off of Ebay but it would not be legal for SCA hardsuit combat, for example. You may be able to sneak by with a barbute hel...

From http://www.sca.org "Since we prefer that no one gets hurt, SCA combatants wear real armor and use rattan swords. Rattan, which looks like bamboo but has a solid core, is springy enough to absorb some of the force of the blow without snapping, and light enough to approximate the weight of a stee...

They are pretty nice. The padding breathes and I haven't died while wearing it in the heat (Arizona). Overall, 4.9/5. The good: *Nice colors. I have a red/black and a white/green, the fabric color looks great. *Just enough padding. I don't feel like the Michelin Man but it helps prevent armor bites ...

Len, I believe you are discovering the lowest levels of steel oxidization. By heat alone you can cause a color oxidization that ranges from "straw yellow" to blue. Here is a tutorial that shows what is achievable: http://www.mailleartisans.org/articles/articledisplay.php?oldkey=9110 This oxidization...

Re: Overlapping washers as armour. Anyone done this?
Jack of plates can be reasonably reproduced as overlapping washers. It winds up being about as heavy or heavier as a typical breastplate of the time (16th century) if using similar materials. http://img213.imageshack.us/img213/6783/16thcentjackplatepattertl8.jpg I was under the impression that "band...

Awesome =) Much easier than the custom washers. Prolly have to plan on an order myself since I can't be bothered to fiddle with the loose riveted I have without a solid ring to speed it up, haha.
