Re: Pheonix Dawn Plate Armour: I put on my robe and wizard h

Zetheros,

How far you have come. In both forming metal and your 3-D modeling. It has been a good long while since I last browsed these forums, was very inspiring to see this suit take shape. I hope it comes out how you want it to. I know ill be keeping a close eye on this thread. Keep at it!

Re: Advice on type of helm

Do you have the tools to help her make one? If so this could turn out to be a decent bonding experience for the two of you! I would personally recommend having her handle actual examples at a local meet or some such so she can see what will work for her "first hand" if she is fixated on practicality...

Re: Toby Capwell kit (Awesome Kit)

That is the definition of sexy.... *drool* It looks like hes wearing tungsten then way its both shiny and black/dark grey. Is that level of eveness hard to produce?

How historicly accurate is this kit?

Are there any extant examples or black and gold?

Re: Cthulhu...Armor

the circles are going to be barnicles, the ribcage will be stippled to look like coral. the faces have the innsmouth look but its going to be alot easier to get them right on in metal than on paper.

Found this link to some milanese peices on myarmoury. not sure if they are indeed extant but they looked interesting. Mayhaps someone with experiance could point out differences?

Would you happen to have any nifty sites that have galleries to such peices? No doubt this is an activity that will span many years beafore I could consider myself versed enough be confident in a reproduction. All the more reason to start now while im young.

Training the eye for accuracy.

Ok so it nothing new that my big thing is fantasy armor, that’s not in question. But recently my mind has been puzzling over how to better train my eye when dealing with extant pieces. There are literally hundreds of comments about doing just that whenever someone has a question about a piece. What ...

Re: Cthulhu...Armor

See this BP is something that rather confounds me, in most pictures of cthulhu his body is usually hidden by his tentacles or he is just a giant fat guy with a squid face. In others his body is just a large smooth mass; in others he has herculean size muscles. I have some ideas but unless you slap s...

Re: Making of: Pheonix Dawn COP (16th Century/Fantasy)

Zetheros, time is never wasted, unless you learned nothing. We are young and have passion for the art. Reguardless or where that stems from, I think it should fuel the fire that burns when we turn these wretched flat peices of steel and transform them into what they were meant to be!

Re: Making of: Pheonix Dawn COP (16th Century/Fantasy)

An artist’s work reflects how he feels, no matter the medium or happenstance from which it is created; it is the truest form of self expression that I know. Finding a job in this economy is hard when the criteria used to judge a person are sheets of paper instead of the actual skills the person poss...

To me it looks like thats just what he may have worn. it doesnt make any sense for him to have no lower body protection on, while wearing a BP and arms, unless it was an artisitc thing to balance the image out. other wards he would just be under dressed.

Thoes sure are some fine looking hammers Schreiber. Thanks for the pic. :D I use off the shelf auto-body door hammers. P. Thaden finish ground my first hammer to a nice rounded shape. Horrific as in it looks bad or intimidateing? imo it looks like an old mans musculata. not really what im going for, but it does indeed help me see what sagging can look like in metal. that last one looks interesting though, the one on the far right.
