Firedryk stainless Sallet and kit. Leaving the game.
So.... I worked a *LOT* of overtime at work, for months. This was all made for me. Helm is "medium" sized, and will fit a 22-24" noggin. However, after several practices and a crown event, it has been made plain to me that my body can not do this anymore. I developed the occasional AFib after the se...

Re: So... leather armor.
I know we aren't trying to kill each other. But if the idea is just a telling blow, why do we bother fighting from our knees? Or one handed? It was my impression that the idea was to deliver a blow not necessarily deadly, but something that would at least have caused damage underneath, preventing th...

This is purely for self satisfaction, but humor me please. The SCA combat standards so to speak, are chain shirt, conical with nasal and chain drape, etc, and boiled leather arms/legs, correct? Well... Is it just me, or do people seem to not really realize how incredibly hard and well you have to hi...

Re: custom shields F/S
at the risk of being flamed, would you be able to make a slightly larger encrache? To my horribly limited knowledge, they were used on horseback, and didn't need to be very large, but.... to use on the field for sca purposes... I would like something a wee bit bigger. Not much, I normally use a 24x2...

Re: Anyone fight in a Burgonet?
If it is of any consequence, the Duke who has been working with me has a very nice Burgonet, and I got to fight in it. Full closed face, spring pins to lock the face in place, keep it from falling down. Breathing wasn't hard, per se, but when I would exhale, I was brutally assaulted by very hot brea...

Oh, right, my apologies, that is quite important!
I have about a 23" head, and the helm can go a bit either way, larger or smaller.

FS- 12 gauge stainless helm
I bought this helm on this site several months ago now, and it has worked great! But I have the chance to get a nicer one now, and need the extra funds. This helm is a total tank, and has served me very very well. I would actually really like to keep it, you know, first helm and all, but alas, it is...

Could you post a few more pictures by chance? perhaps of the back of the helm, and sides? the pictures of it with the bar grill are all straight on, from what I saw.

VERY interested in this helm!! I just measured my head like... 5 or 6 times, and got anywhere from 22 1/2" to just over 23" Therefore, I think I may be doing it wrong lol. The last measurement I just took was right at my eyebrow, and came out just over 23". Do you think it will fit my melon?

So.... I watched alll the fights on the live stream, and I lost a lot of sleep over it, so maybe that scued my thoughts and opinions on all of this, but here me out anyway. The grappling, while I would personally LOVE it, I agree, would be a bad idea. The SCA has some pretty young, up to pretty old ...

There are no words to adequately describe how awesome that is! Even more so when you know the recipient, and realize that Ugo has sculpted Ajax's face onto his new helm. I TOTALLY agree!! I hope he brings it with him in the morning!! man oh man, what a BEAUTIFUL face!! I don't wanna hit it!...

Blued and fluted German Gothic legs and matching shoulders
Hey folks! These legs were what I got authorized in, and have fought in a bit the last few months. Not a whole bunch really.. a few practices, Crown roses, and a Coronet list... about it I think. I screwed up my shoulder pretty bad, and haven't had much time, which is a real bummer cuz I'm still sup...

Re: Help me save my hearing?
There ar a few answers to this question, and you are sure to hear all of them here. There are two common types of loud, The first and most common is the ring (Helm acts like a bell and resonates from the blow) an the second is the thump (Kinda like a snare drum). If it's the bell you esentialy need...

So, I have a helmet, it is 12 ga ss. has a lifting bargrill visor, and is a strange barbuta/sallet looking shape. rounded top, and the little barbute tail, but the front looks a touch more german... ANYWAY, it is LOUD!!!! How loud is it? Well, I play heavy metal guitar in my garage at absurd volumes...

I did some searching, and I saw some helpful things, some not so much.. I have an aluminum number thirteen heater from Windrose, and got the shield edging as well.
