Re: combat boots or boots for combat?

Wearing the soccer shin guards that have the cap over your ankle bone should cut down on that and still be concealable under the boots.

Thank you! That made a lot more sense than some of the other explanations I've read. So after cutting the jeans I should end up with something looking like this? Image

Patterning Hidden Legs

I've been searching for a better way to armor my thighs and remain low profile for my norse kit. I currently use some poorly proportioned hardened leather cuisses that hide under my pants about as well as a facial tattoo hides on a pretty woman. Now I'm interested in making something like these legs...

While I've been lurking I noticed a few posts about evoshield rib shirts for under maille. Anyone have any experience with this? I am quite intrigued by the technology.

12 gauge dome all the way. Better protection and it doesn't get dented as easily.

The plate sure came together nicely, LASTknight. How is the movement in the elbow? The pic seems to show it only going to 90 degrees.

I've never boiled my honey or water when making my mead. I just use spring water that you get at the store and store bought honey and it's always turned out great. Of course when I start making bigger batches eventually, I'll want to get my honey in bulk from an apiary so then I may need to boil.

My favorite part though was when after the joust, the contestants shook hands and patted each other on the b...

I made a foam spangen top thing that fit my head and filled in the corner space with a strip of foam about an inch wide, threw a circle of open cell in the top for comfort and off I go. It's really comfortable and pretty easy to do.

Take a look at this thread for some ideas on hidden armour http://forums.armourarchive.org/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=16&t=97177 . It would add flair to the piece and really make it look nice. However $35 does seem a bit steep. It's the age old "food/rent/electric/etc. vs cool stuff" conundrum.

Re: How do you install arming points?

Well, it'll be hot, so sort of bad. The poly shredded stuff doesn't breathe very well, linen and cotton do a much better job of keeping you cool. However if it works for you, then use it until you have time/money to make something fancy.

I'm liking where this is going. However might I suggest toning down the crest part of the helm, if you were planning to make that out of steel that is. It just looks like, even with lighter gauge steel, it'd be a big pain in the neck and I mean that literally.
