Re: Cloth Color Questions
Ooh good idea on the illuminations. I was mind-locked into relief or sculpture work for some reason. That is quite the profusion of possible colors. On the broad range -- somewhat intended on my part. I think I like the options open to me for the period in question as armors transition across the ar...

Cloth Color Questions
So, I'm considering a transitional "coat of plates" type armor as my primary kit for fighting. I'm looking at making it on the more munition grade end of the arms spectrum (canvas, no gilt on any nails, little or no ostentation). But I would like to know what color options for cloth I can get away w...

At best, some CoPs seem to have horizontal fauld-like plates that hang over the hips as part of the internal plate structure. Do you have anything that you can share regarding this, Eltz? Sometimes the COP structure appears to extend over the hips. Examples: Minoritenkirche Relief, http://armourina...

Re: Great helm found in Moravia?
And this is a largely unschooled person's opinion, but if you wear your great helm over a better fitting, possibly better hardened interior helm, do you even care if you take a bolt to the edges of your barrel? Or do you just laugh maniacally at the archers (Assuming you are close enough) or giggle ...

Just goes to show you -- poles aren't people.
Edit -- just because this is the AA and I don't want to be derogatory. That is a lower case pole. As in pole arm. Some of my best friends are Poles. Even an Albanian (we can't got to the same parties any longer, however)

So, I'm looking on putting together a starter kit. That said, I'm looking for a little bit above bottom level and planning to do a bit of it myself. The etching . . . . it is amazingness!
+1 on that.
It may say on your website, so I'll go look, but since I'm here and lazy, what are you etching on with that sharpness -- mild, SS, etc? Everything?
Lovely work.

Re: Sword grip too small: fixes?
I think that the leather addition might be a good idea just based on how wrapped leather behaves versus wooden shims under a wrapping. If you use a grip-tape or a more authentic, period grip surface, maybe layering something under that could work (in my head I'm thinking twine or similar, with some ...

Quick question -- for the underlayment Luaun shield, why three layers? Does it have that much more flex than a good plywood, or is it simply a matter of laying it different directions?

I've stumbled across someone selling some 3/16th sheet steel (mild cold I believe) at .30/lb with some oddball sizes or a few cuts out of a large sheet. From a welding newb (I can make stuff stay together on a boat trailer or on my crappy jigs for other things but that's it).
What Knotwolf said, probably plus or minus about a million for any weld you want to look decent.

Good deal, thanks for the inputs! Yeah, I figured it wouldn't exactly be a walk in the park to chop up something in SS, but possibly worth it for the free-ness of the sink I acquired. I won't make a nice planter out of it quite yet, but it does seem to be a thinner bottomed sink than some of the pre...

@ Heath, I'm considering something like this for my kit as it progresses. Are the lowers just riveted to the knee there?
