I use a mix of shocktec gel and a quilted liner for my HMB helm.

It's pretty high tech, but not great for every application.

A lot of us Bohurt fighters have switched to synthetic leather substitutes for strapping, simply because the longevity is ridiculous compared to leather. The fact that you can buy it 100s of feet at a time in pre cut widths is also a bonus.

Fair. I've got a pair dished like you're describing. They're fantastic. The guy who makes them is only doing Western now and has a long wait list.

I might have a pair of stainless ones, unstrapped with no top plates. I'll take a look at home.

I have no idea how a great helm from the 90s would be any more solid than one build today. Maybe you guys were hitting softer back then.
