Re: Great Helm Patterns pre 1300 a.d. needed.
Steve S,
I looked at the pattern archive, however both examples look to be mid 14th century models. I actually need Dargen, which Ersnt was good enough to post!
Thank you gentles!
Hmmm, I wonder what the dimensions might be on those plates? Any ideas, lads?

Great Helm Patterns pre 1300 a.d. needed.
Hello Gentles! Happy New Year, albeit a little late. I have had requests to try my hand at pre-14th century Great Helms. Essentially, what I'm looking for is patterns for the good old, flat-top, barrel with the re-enforced cross guard. WISH I had pics to describe what I mean?! ..but if you search 'C...

Re: hinky ebay listing
Agreed, Losthelm. Looks to be old kit from one of the groups, SCA/Adrian Empire etc. ACL is too new for this stuff, but maybe a HEMA fighter? I'm thinking the seller really has no idea what the value of the pieces are and is just tossing the number out there. It would be interesting to have a hands ...

Greetings Cousins, What is the protocol in America for selling goods acquired through fraudulent means? In Canada it's essentially the same as selling stolen goods. Is it the same in the States? Thanks so much, Big Fred. Much appreciated. I've got their knees, elbows, gorgets one helm and demi's done, plus half a cuirass. Still have a helm to make, two baskethilts, two shields, a cuirass and a half cuirass, and spaulders. And we'll have two new fighters on the field! I LOVE IT!!!!! James Ed...

Looking for the DIY plastic baskethilt
Greetings Cousins! I know a while back, someone had posted a pic of a DIY plastic cuphilt, does anyone have a pattern or pic of the design? As I recall, it was the thicker white barrel plastic. I'm putting together a couple of kits for new folks and I'd rather not buy a cuphilt if I don't have to, s...

WTB: cheap bascinet for 23.5 inch head.
Greetings Gentles, I am on quest to find a cheap bascinet to fit a 23.5 inch head. It can be old, it can be rusted, it can be something you have laying around in the back of your closet that you thought was a chamber pot and very well might have used it as such. :) I do not care. Help/Advice building a norman-esque helm.
Greetings all you wonderful armour folk!!! This summer I picked up a conical helm top from Rough from the Hammer. I'm looking to bang out a norman-esque helm (something like a norman helm but more a generic 11th - 12th century hat). It doesn't need to be perfect, it's just for me. :) However, I woul...

Re: Looking for an armourer named Haroun
You're looking for Sir Haroun. His hidden plastic leg armour is famous across the SCA. I'm not certain that he makes them or any other armour en mass. As I recall he does it one piece at a time for friends and household members. I'm sure if you do some digging under the name Sir Haroun, you'll find ...

I can't agree more; come to practice, put the time in and EARN the free stuff. As the saying goes 'nothing in life is free'. And in the SCA there really is such a thing as sweat equality; make an effort to try, and someone will help you. There isn't a group in the Knowne World that doesn't have some...

Re: I wanna be a 14TH CENTURY SCOT
I wonder if they also differentiate between a pike and a long spear by the functionality of pike 'teams', by this I mean the hook and stab teams; one man uses his pike to stab while another uses the hook on the backside of some pikes to pull the opponents weapons aside, much akin to how SCA spearmen...

Just want to put a plug in here for Dougal. I picked a pair of his padded Chausses last month, they got here quick, they are very well made, just enough padding for armoured combat that you feel the blows and are extremely simple to use. I am a very happy customer.
