I second Andy Ward. For the price his gauntlets cant be beat. Under $200, safe, and not the eyesore of plastic.

Thank you Scott. Then we have an agreement. Muldonny wins at $145. Thank you gentlemen for being so understanding of an old Knight trying to help a new fella here at home get a new helm.

Re: Starter helm for Auction

OK guys, we can split hairs all day or we can come to a gentleman's agreement. According to my phone, and I live in Central Time the last bid to land before 12:01 was Muldony at $145. So, I will make an executive decision. Bids are open again for one hour from the AA time posted on this message. The...

Crap, I messed this up again. I was going off of time on my laptop and not the AA time. It looks like Muldonny was actually the winner. I am sorry Scott. I need to just walk away from the AA when I have something like this going on. Too much going on a t work and school to keep everything straight.

1. What is your current helmet padding setup? 1/2" EVA foam with 1/4" of open cell foam next to my melon. I keep my hair really short and the open cell sucks up the sweat and keeps it out of my eyes. 2. What have you used previously? 1/2" Camp foam, but not in 15+ years 3. What do you as a fighter f...

He has a local armorer here he is already working with to get his new hat together. He is selling the old ones to fund that project. I am not sure exactly what he is getting, I would assume something Knotwolf-ish.

Starter helm for Auction

We have a new second generation guy in the barony, he is fairly young and tight on funds. He asked me to sell his old helm for him to fund a new one. Maker unknown, bascinet a pivoting bar cage. Helm is 14g (as I was told by an armorer) Stainless and is a fairly small hat. It will fit a 22.5" to a 2...

Salet Helm for Auction

Are you going to 50 year celebration? Would you like to take a piece of Calontir Armor History with you? This helm is a early to mid 1980's Sallet with jointed bevor and visor. This helm was the height of technology when it was built in the halls of Steelholm. The helm is still list legal and is bui...

I have an 18" I wear across the front unless I think I will really need to lay the wood to someone. In that case I have a 24" log I wear in the back. These are the 1st boxes I made. I made them for my squire for Yule. I also did a scroll for him when he was inducted into the Order of the Iren Hirth (GoA for Fighting) in Calontir. I am pretty proud of both. I did have help, but for an old stick Jock I think I did OK.

Re: Suggestions? Need viking gauntlets for one handed combat

There is more information needed to make a good recommendation. 1) What Kingdom do you live in? This is important because there are options in some places that are not legal in others. 2) Budget for a pair. I don't know any armorers that sell one gauntlet. 3) How fast do you need them? Time is an im...

$199 is cheap for any helmet. With a helm or any armor for that matter, remember cheap, fast, quality....Pick two and hope you get them both. I have been in the SCA for over 22 years. My 1st helm in 1993 cost $135. It is the only helm I ever had that was anywhere near that price. Remember at that ti...

Irish,
It is different perf plate on the back, like the one I have. The holes in the back plate are too big to be on the front. I know with just light leather on the rear mine passed the punch test with the mask testing tool. It makes the hat lighter and breathe better.
