Thanks Li! Okay, so the correct word for the thigh armour is: tuǐ qún (lit. 'leg skirt'.) And the armour as a whole: jiǎ The lamellar are from "Arm Street". No problem.
I'll go with haidate for now, until I can get the Chinese term.
(It consists of two separate parts, so not really a skirt, and is hangs away from the legs, so neither chaps nor cuisse. The closest is a very big pair of haidate.)
How is that pronounced, by the way?

Heh. I am getting "Steel Mastery" to make the helmet for me, since that is well beyond my means. (The brass wings will be flush with the helment, rather than sticking out.)
