I have to ask... although I might not like the answers...
Are the gauntlets small, medium or large? I'm assuming they're on the larger side if they're too big for you...
Also, what... what would they cost? (my wallet is already recoiling in fear but I must know)

Kilian, if you have an iPhone 6/Galaxy 6 or newer, you have a good enough camera. Also, you don't even really need a camera, just a decent microphone, which you can pick up for about 60 dollars (the Snowball Ice)

I did find your blog but only skimmed it, should've read it more closely! Thank you!
I am actually working on a 1360 German kit right now and going for basically the same thing you did. Thank you for popping in here and making me have a second look at your project!

What was the timeframe of the short-sleeved Jupon?
So! The short-sleeved Jupon, quilted (either stuck-through or in inner-outer-shell construction with pre-laid channels of padding that were quilted over) and absolutely wonderfully beautiful, supposedly used all over Europe, modernly known mostly as a French item (although it is seen as a statue on ...

Source on clothes being donated by Nobles?
I recall seeing a discussion on here that brought up a good source on the life of Noble clothing, in that they were worn, torn, repaired, worn and, after being inherited and eventually going out of fashion after that, they would be donated to lower standing people? I don't remember any more details ...

I need pictures of the Royal Armouries Negroli Sallet (487)
So, I need pictures of the Royal Armouries in Leeds' Negroli Sallet, object number 487. I already have the pictures from the website, and some from its display in the cabinett with the blue background, however, there are still two to three crucial pictures missing: Square from the front. Square from...

We also tend to forget how preciously fragile humans are to blunt force trauma from even lightly weighted objects. You can kill with a wooden sword, in fact, it happened and it happened enough that we have it in writing from court cases how so-and-so killed another whilst practicing with wooden swor...

Re: War-garments of the late 15th century? Are there any?
I am mostly interested in just, well, anything, because as far as I know, most period depictions I've seen show pretty much no garb worn to war other than the arming doublets on which they pointed their armour. Highborn or Peasant soldier, Wales or Naples, I'm currently just looking at options all o...

War-garments of the late 15th century? Are there any?
So, having recently come across an utterly gorgeous piece of fabric, suitable for late 15th century richness, and with my plans for a traveling kit being just that, late 15th century hidden armour, I was wondering what war-garments can be found for the late 15th century. The shift from the 14th to 1...

Question is how Old is Old?
Because even by the 70's (40 years earlier), Coats of Plates in high-fashion were not flat, boxy or barrely, so when is Old, well, Old, and when is it "that junk that peasants of old used to wear"?

Is there a good table for material equivalence to mild steel
So, my questions is rather simple, is there a good table that shows the approximate equivalence between Mild Steel and other metals? I.e. How much stronger is X than Y, and what thickness would count as 16ga Mild Steel (i.e. Rigid Material). I'm particularly interested in Brass, Stainless Steel and ...

Re: The Palazzo Ducale bascinet.
This paintings has some strange decisions (such as the cuirass over the jupon, though there is a 1370's german effigy with a breastplate over one), but, based on the photoshops in this thread, I would imagine that the Frenchman in the center looks pretty close to what we're expecting a jupon-wearing...

That is indeed true and I misspoke in claiming things to only be solid, I forgot about this italian piece in particular, but yes, the shape is still globose and nothing like the Visby coats.

Re: IWTB an English Man-at-Arms at Agincourt
Randal, my assumption that pairs of plate at the time were covered breastplates/corrazinnas (same thing, different names, some were split, some were not) comes from the artwork of the 1380's and onward, where there basically aren't any flat coats of plate anywhere, I can't even find such plates on b...

And even Coats of Plates at the time were more like covered breastplates (with fauld), some split down the middle, some split in the back. Visby style Coats of Plate were almost a century out of fashion (and technological advancement) by the time of Agincourt. Basically, at the time of 1415, if you ...

Re: What's the appropriate 'war board' for 14th century engl
Basically, by the mid-late 14th century, plate armour had reached the efficiency where you could get by with either a pollaxe or a bastard sword (the English forces got smacked in ground combat by the scots in 1328 at the battle of Bannockburn and said "never again" and started fighting on foot in s...

Pourpoint means "garb that's pierced" or something to that effect, I.e. Padded. A Pourpoint is a form of aketon and also a stiffly padded civilian garb (to gain the shape). A Jupon is worn over armour, correct, however, through the century, it takes many shapes. It is, at first, a surcotte, and late...

I take thrusts lighter, because I Don appreciate not being jammed in the gut by the end of a bat, even if it has a "safe" thrusting tip.
