Re: dishing stump.

the easiest way is to get your rounded hammer and beat a dish into the stump. a shallow and deep dish is good. maybe a oblong one if you plan to do guantlets.

Re: Early 14th C English Man-At-Arms SCA legal

Bannockburn 1314 According to this, a Man-At-Arms equipment is half that of a Knight. a Knight's pay was 20lbs(don't know the key stroke for the English Pound). Now to give an idea of my Kit, page 23 has a picture of Sir William Fitzralph's Monumental Brass. using this I will essentially remove the...

Re: Resurrecting old armor

pmeagher, I would recommend removing the rivets from the bar grille. two reasons! first getting in there to get the rest of the helm cleaned up would be visually awesome and help its longevity. Second, and possibly more important, this helm has 30 years on it, 10 of which it sat rusting in the basem...

Riveted Maille, a couple things.

Ok so i have looked through the "Newb questions answered" sticky for Mail, found a great resource for Wedge-Riveted Maile. Eli on M.A.I.L. has a great write up and shows some great tools for the job, IE his Piercing Pliers are pretty sweet. Something i haven't seen on there is making the Drift itsel...

Re: Armouring tools in time for Christmas.

Question! The Multi Tool looks more a long what i need than the starter kit. can you customize this tool? I was thinking the small plate on top being a little bigger in length and the pipe on the back being a little longer. my SCA Gear is mainly hidden Leather/Barrel Plastic and metal Cops, gorget a...

On a side note I remember seeing something about converting moder leather purses into satchels. Anyone heard of this or know of a guide? Mom has a couple leather purses I wouldn't mind grabbing. They are not covered in fake gems or "pretties" so conversion should be easy.

I have fought in a Kidney belt harness already. If you didn't understand I apologize, the Kidney Belt harness I am talking about with plates is my Hidden Armor under the mail. I sorta figured that, though I didn't say anything. One thing we always have to ask about is what tools you've got, and wha...

Re: Early 14th C English Man-At-Arms SCA legal

M'lord, don't be afraid of hosen. For the early 14th century, you'd be wearing chausses over braies. Chausses are thigh-high leggings that tie to the waist cord of your braies, and braies are like linen undershorts. Chausses (and hosen) do need to be snug, but they're stretchy, so they feel like lo...

Early 14th C English Man-At-Arms SCA legal

So I know my SCA Character. Born in Bristol closse to 1290, reaches maturity around the end of the first Decade of the 14th Century and Is in service of the local Lord. Now the modification to fit RP wise with my local group of Vikings, He falls in battle barely recovers after being plucked by a gro...

Re: Hello and bascinet question

since my question is regarding this very thing i will ask here. My SCA persona is from the early 14th C, He will be a soimple Man-At-Arms so having some fancy Armor is not in the lists unless i Make Knight in the SCA. From what i see the Early 14th C had short backed Bascinets with a Nasal and Avent...

You would be looking for Halberds. On aside note; if you buy the kit, try getting a helm kit from zweihammer (sp?) to "test" the tools out. Don Yeah I already found the tools from Halberd and I was actually considering a Helm Kit TBH. I'll be using a Loaner Helm until i get/Assemble a Kit Helm. he ...

Halberd, I'm a returning newbie to SCA and want to get into Light Armoring. I want to be able to make some simple Armor pieces. I really like your Basic Starter Kit, However what would need to be added for some simple Clam-shell Gauntlets and Half/Demi Gauntlets?
