ISO inexpensive chainmaille shirt or uniform scrap pieces

Hey folks, Looking for a chainmaille shirt, in wedge or pin rivets, alternating solid rings or full rivets are fine. I'd also take enough uniform scrap pieces to finish my project I'm looking for something to dismantle and use to make a riveted "Geralt of Rivia" cosplay. I need about half a shirt's ...

Throw some 4 or 6 inch wide masking tape down on that leather before you run those vector cuts. It'll cut down on like 95% of the scorching you're getting.

Is there anyone local to him that may be able to contact his local group? Pressure from peers (even if he isn't active anymore) might be enough to pressure him into sending it back. Hey! So I'm trying to get started in armour work. I have a couple crappy pieces under my belt, and need more tools. I'm not local, but I am very interested in working something out. Please let me know if there's some way we can arrange something! I'm in Minnesota, but have friends in canada, and can...

I love having my intentions questioned after donating to a good cause. If you think the only reason to donate is to make oneself look good, you're forgetting that there are two Victims in this. Cody is one, and John is other. I'm not donating to see Cody get a helm, I'm donating so that John doesn't...

If you could have any hammer custom made - what would it be?

I'll admit, this is selfish. I just solidified a trade offer with one of my favorite hammer makers. He's offered me two armor making hammers of my choosing, in any style, in the trade. I have my first hammer picked out and ready, but for a second I'm at a loss. I'm still new to armor work, and I sou...

Re: I WTB Rus c. 1200

I've seen hundreds of examples (none historical) of people wearing Lamellar over Maille. Is there any reason I shouldn't do this? This is the first time I've seen anyone imply that the two should be used exclusive of each other.

Re: where to get tempered steel scales?

No luck, guys. They punch theirs with a die, and they have made it clear they aren't interested in working with a new die, even if we were to cover the cost. I would reach out to Polar Bear Forge, and use my design to just get some stainless cut. It won't be spring stainless, but getting a custom sh...

Re: where to get tempered steel scales?

Thank you for the kind words! It was my first project, so I'm very excited about how it turned out. I can say with confidence that my leather scales have developed a healthy curve over the years. Few of them have remained flat, due to the shape they're required to hold. If we put some sort of paddin...

Re: where to get tempered steel scales?

So, to give some background on what I'm suggesting. I made a suit to cosplay Brynden Blackfish. I designed the scales, cut them out, punched the holes, treated with vinegaroon and sealed them with beeswax all myself. I'm suggesting you lace them together like Lamellar, as it's by far the most elegan...

Re: where to get tempered steel scales?

I could mock up a design for you, making it like modified lamellar. Then you could talk to Polar Bear Forge and get a custom order through him. He'll cut anything you want, if you get the steel shipped to him. It would be a bit of a process, but the end result is what you're looking for. Let me know...

Ooph, time to revitalize a thread! I am about to start working on a 13th century Rus kit. And this is very helpful. My big question however, I really dislike the Byzintine fashion Banded Lamellar. What other styles of Lamellar would be acceptable for a 1250 Rus? Additionally, I have a perfect Hauber...
