Re: Casting bronze into clay
I ALWAYS use delft clay in flat casting and have done a bit of it over the years. My degree is in jewelry/metalsmithing. Delft stays together awesomely and hardly ever falls. It is a very fine clay that can be packed very hard so your masters need to be substantial like wood or metal or heavy plasti...

I just spoke with the guy that made these. THEY ARE VERY OLD!!! I am SURE the leather is a rock by now since they were made in the late 80-early 90's however the cops may be salvagable. This is what he told me: Yes they are, those are some of the first types I made. The finger pocket on those are th...

I am now taking orders for custom made Garters for all you 14th century types. I can now engrave customs images onto hand made buckles and chapes and I can also laser engrave the bands to say what you would like around them or down the dangly end. I have used a fine grit Rust eraser that I got from Woodcraft and just swirl it around in circles over the surface and it "frosts" nicely. I used it with 4130 cops and 410 lames and now they look the same.

I have had a cheaper version of this a few years ago and it was TERRIBLE! The rpm rate is for a non-load spin. if you touched anything to the grinding wheel the thing would stop spinning. IMO the chain doesnt need to be any longer than your chest to your fingertips. If you are using it for a lanyard you dont want it to hit the ground if you dropped it. It should not matter what material it is made of if you are not attacking with it. You may have to be concious of how it moves when y...

When I first started in the SCA I was Alrek Soaringspear...then I found out that I couldn't throw a spear 10 feet... and I was stuck with the nickname Rabbit...something to do with my idea of viking wearing furs in the 80's.
