Re: Ancient Greek/Scythian Equipment.
Mostly for the benefit of those who don't see me cheering on Facebook, I am cheering! And drooling. Not that I'm a *cavalry* guy, but it's still great stuff. Matthew Thanks Matthew, I really need to get on and make the gorytus. Who made the greaves? My guess would be Manning Imperial or Royal Oak A...

Re: Ancient Greek/Scythian Equipment.
Lost all the original photos in this post. Doesn't matter, done a bit of an update to my kit since then. Made some new Scythian clothing. Based the pants on these 3000 year old pants. https://scontent-syd2-1.xx.fbcdn.net/v/t1.0-9/100393201_10158464512669516_7527980606391582720_n.jpg?_nc_cat=106&_nc_...

LOL. Practice, training, rinse and repeat.
Especially doing it all bareback. You really notice it if you have a few weeks off and get back on.

My main interest in cavalry, so that means riding with nothing but a skin or saddle pad to ride on for this period. This is my stallion Athos. http://i63.tinypic.com/11b27o7.jpg http://i65.tinypic.com/2iuqo0g.jpg http://i64.tinypic.com/x2ncpw.jpg http://i68.tinypic.com/jfam51.jpg http://i63.tinypic....

Ancient Greek/Scythian Equipment.
Been a while since I last posted here. I retired from jousting last May and went back to racing bikes. Late last year I felt the urge to get back on the horses and started working on some ancients equipment. I made myself some clothing, a spolas and had a go at making a Scythian sword and hammer. I ...

Peter Lyon Sword For Sale
Thought long and hard about this one. But I am not using so it might as well go to someone who will. This is a sword blade that I had made for me by Peter Lyon (yep, he of Lord of the Rings sword fame), in 1995. Peters swords do not come up for sale very often! This is hilted as a Spatha at the mome...

Thanks all. I am pretty happy with how they turned out.
The Rondel Dagger has sold. I am thinking about making a couple more in the next few weeks if I can find some time.
The Pouch is still available. Sent you a PM Ozzie

Re: Pouch and Rondel Dagger for sale.
Belt Pouch-AUD$350 + postage. Custom made by me. Completly hand tooled, dyed and hand stitched. Has two coin pouches on front and a document holder under the front flap. Nice and large. Stain on the under side as seen in photos. Dye took a darker colour there. http://i252.photobucket.com/albums/hh17...

FOX SPORTS Jousting!
Yep, Fox Sports covered the St. Ives tournament down here in Australia over the weekend and broadcast it live. This joust was run using solid timber historical lances with grapers, arrets, vamplates and steel coronels.

Re: Jousting in the US
It was a fun weekend. Honestly the hardest I have ever been hit in a joust. Everyone that competed said the lances were the hardest they had used.
To compare and contrast the French joust I will be going to next June.

Jousting in France
Don't think I shared this here.
This is a joust in France that was held in early September. This was run with historical solids.
I will be competing at it next year. Very much looking forward to it.

Jousting in the US
A friend, Phil, and myself from Australia travelled to the US last month to take part in a US style jousting tournament. Phil ended up winning it and I came third, not bad for two guys who usually do historical style jousting. Bit of video from some publicity stuff we did on the Friday and fro...

Re: Full contact jousting: Helms
Frogmouth style helms that strap or bolt down take some practice to ride and joust in. You really need to be a very good and very confident jouster and rider before locking your head in place. Having a well trained horse is also a must. This is mine and it is 7.5mm thick in places and weighs in at 8...

Sallet and bevor for sale. Made for me by Jiri Lucius in 2005 as part of a full 15thC harness I still have. I sold this helmet quite a while ago but it has recently come back to me. I don't really need it so will move it along to someone that will use it. When I had it I didn't use it much and the p...

Very Nice! Glad to see another set of these "bazuband" style vambraces. I did the same sort of arms with the "bazuband" style forearms when I built my 14thC harness last year. http://i252.photobucket.com/albums/hh17/Captayne/14thC/IMG_6252438x1024_zpscaf8fa34.jpg http://i252.photobucket.com/albums/h...

Some of this harness is new, some of it is 10 years old. I used it at the St. Ives joust a few weeks ago but finally finished heat blueing the rest of it. This harness is used for historical solids, amongst other things, so is built with that in mind. The helm front plate is 7.5mm thick in the middl...
