The correct pronunciation of the pirate greeting is "Arrrrrrrrrr!" with a very strong pronunciation of the "R". The pirate accent originates from the port of Bristol in the South West of England, which was once England's great sea-port to the West. I grew up 30 miles from Bristol and can vouch for t...

I'd be very interested in trying one out if you are making them rebated.
But it would need to be 18 inches long (6 inch grip and 12 inch blade) not 14. 14 inches is way too short!

Yes they do. m I have a pair of these and they are superb and were in stock, if you have a spare $400, that is... It is questionable whether or not the cuffs on these albion gauntlets are accurate. Many very learned people say that the plates on the Wisby cuff should be covered in leather and not ex...

I have one of those black gambesons - it has served me well over 3 years. It is fairly thin but then I also have one of Revival Clothing's mega-thick-gambesons and that is THICK! Nice gloves!
I have a pair of these and have been testing them with longsword drilling and light sparring (no of course they are not full contact gloves!) - they are really well made - very tight stitching, and give really good "feel" (contact) for grappling at close range. Gets my vote! And I am looking forward...

There is a photo of an original German bascinet c.1360-1370 (HAM#998) at http://users.wpi.edu/~dev_alac/iqp/pics/938.jpg I noticed on Thomas Lord Berkeley's effigy the absence of cops. His arm defenses appear to be spaulders, and then leather vambrace and rerebrace only. http://www.safetyed.org/thom...

But in any case, you can study the effigy of Thomas at

I only had a cheap throwaway camera, so this was the best I could do.

No worries. His armour is very interesting, and the effigy although old and decayed, still has lots of detail, e.g. his leather greaves fully enclose his lower legs, and are laced closed by a lacing system up the inside of his calf (not buckled). Stand by for the pics http://www.armourarchive.org/ub...
