Re: 14th Century Coat of Plate
Good job. I've made a few of these and here is a couple points you might consider. You can curve the side pieces better in sheet form. You can bend them over your thigh a little at a time and put a gentle radius in them and then cut. Makes it easier using leverage. Same with the front. If you bend, ...

Ahhh... I know see better about what we were discussing on the phone the other day. This is totally fixable. I will show you what I have done & help you with yours. You will need to use felt. It's thinner & conforms better & still meets the requirements. The metacarpel plate will need some sizing & ...

It is sad but this will be the 3rd year I've missed this since the 1st one. Year one was a blast. Year 2 I stayed home with my newborn daughter. Year 3 I broke my leg 2 weeks before Gulfwars while fighting. This year I cannot in all honestly fight in this because my kit no longer fits the bill, I ca...

Thanks Uric, & thanks again for the field side medical care! I've got a non-displaced fracture & they have me in a boot. As long as I can keep it non-displaced while it heals I should be OK. I also pulled a few ligaments too. The Doc told me I should be healed up in 2 months if everything goes smoot...

My wife usually paints the insides & I paint the outsides. We only use acrylic craft paint with a white glue & canvas base. They dry quickly and are easy to use. The only trouble I ever have is with the metallics because the color is thin. No clear coats. All painting is done with either artists bru...

Paul degrease the helm throughly. Then the paint will stick. At that point after the paint drys you will want to re-oil the helm or clean it throughly and then wax it to prevent rust. Paint will chip though... Looks good like I've told you your kits come a long way baby. Glad you didn't glue any nic...

A Question on Ransoms
I hope to again be accepted into the Deed of Arms at Gulfwars this year. When I participated in the first one two years ago I provided those who captured me each a bottle of my Mead (which is good stuff not some store bought or bath tub crap) which at that point was at least a year old ( I brought 3...

Sewing between plates? Don't bother; the regular run of rivets fastening the plates in will secure them enough. If you want to cover a CoP over with leather, that's fine. Giving it a backbone of awning canvas within, as well, makes for a truly strong CoP. This means, inside to outside, plates, canv...
