Re: WTB Mild Kettle Hat

I'm looking for one of the kettle helms with the bar grille all the way around the underside of the kettle helm bit. I'm really looking for something to be had either before or at Gulf Wars. I'm hoping to get a friend, who has issues with claustrophopia, on the field. If it doesn't work, I've always...

Does anyone know where I might find 14th-15th century documents regarding knightings or other elevations?

WTB Mild Kettle Hat

Okay, who out there is sitting on an old, beat-up SCA openwork style kettle helm and wants to sell it? I know you are out there...somewhere. I can't see that anyone is making that style anymore, and I'm looking for one in mild, preferably riveted construction.

Hey Hjalmr,

What are you getting for one of those slat backed kettle helms, and what is the lead time?

Help Identifting this buckle....

This is from another forum I am on. Can any one help identify it? I was a metal detector find in near North Yorkshire. Object was in plough soil, very near the top. It appears to be anthropomorphic, and made of bronze.

Emergency Sale

I have found myself in some financial straits, and need to unload whatever I can in order to be able to pay bills and buy gas to get to and from work. I have a couple of helms, one bascinet, and one roman style, both from the workshop of Patrick Thaden, the bascinet has never been used, and the roma...

I did create my own pattern using measurements of my foot, and the line drawings of extant shoes, styles 4a1, 4a2, and 4a3, in "Leather and Leatherworking in Anglo-Scandinavian and Medieval York" by Quita Mould, Ian Carlisle, and Esther Cameron. Some of the finds were rather incomplete, so I looked ...

Does anyone know how to contact Marc Carlson? I have some questions regarding some information on his website....he mentions that lasts found in Nordic York seem to have no tack marks, suggesting that they may not have been used in assembly, but for some other purpose.

I am looking for information on not only making turnshoes on lasts, but also making the lasts. I'm pretty decent with a draw knife, and I do have some 4x4 chunks hanging out in the garage.....

Thanks for the links!
