Re: So who's gonna win tomorrow?
Should be interesting. Nice list with for Ansteorra an unusual format. Duke Aaron if he is healthy should do well. Counts Romamius and Lochlan should also do well. I wouldn't be surprised to see any one of three in the finals. There are a couple of the Centurions that wouldn't surprise me by doing v...

Interesting belt. Kinda wonder what the purpose of the flail is. Figuring just a weird decoration.

Re: "Baltic" coil belts....Attention Norman!
About the only Baltic people I have heard of using coils/spirals of metal would have been the Finnic people. If I recall correctly started out in men's fashion but eventually became a women's thing. Did find one pic from a lady in Finland who made a kit for her husband. Tablet wove belt with the end...

Re: Midwest Tent - Wall tent
http://midwesttent.com/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=37&products_id=155 I just happen to own one. Bought the bracket kit for the tent and went to the local Lowes for the emt. Cost me less to buy that way. You are supposed to be to just use a ridge pole with uprights and stake out the sides but I ha...

Re: Using the Icefalcon riveted mail tool
Not actually rust. It is a corrosive reaction between two dissimilar metals. Statue of Liberty was/is a great example. Iron frame with a copper skin. Dang thing was rotting apart. Seal one of the metals with something like paint, lacquer and it helps to stop the reaction.

Not a bad idea Sigifrith. And I have seen the opposite. A CA got hit in the arm and borrowed a shield from someone and covered an archer and a spearman. Personally I have yielded, been tapped, hit with a descent shot and picked up and thrown with a spear. Well actually a pike in the side, Duke Uther...

Re: Reduce curve of aluminum shield?
Lay in on the ground high side up. Take a deadblow hammer and hit. Multiple lines going from top to bottom. It should release some of the curve that way. Try and hit evenly across the entire surface so it releases the same all over.

Losthelm, 30# bow for shafted arrows. Except for Ansteorra where the heavy bow poundage is less than 50#. Won't even get into the different poundages for crossbows.

Re: Splinted bracers - kydex splints - for hidden armor
.125" or slightly larger would be ok. With the leather and padding should be ok. Shaping the splints a bit especially around wrist area will help with the strength some and will be less likely to rub the them wrong. Check ebay for kydex for smaller pieces instead of buying a whole sheet. The color w...

Re: CHIN STRAPPING, copper rivets, inside helmet
Big hammer, much easier with 2 people but it can be done by one person. 2-3 pound sledge hammer held by hand inside against the head of the rivet. Loads of little taps from the outside. Readjust hammer as needed. Done this several times to replace/repair straps at events. Not always the prettiest bu...

Re: Query about purchasing Brass for a helmets
Lowe's does carry solid brass kick plates but you have to find the small print on the package to make sure. The kick plates are fairly thin tho. 16 to 18 gauge brass door knob plates work well. Back them with steel for a nasal. I like these much more. Again read the small print to make sure they are...
