Want to buy an aventail, unusual requirements
I'm looking for an aventail/camail for my helm. (See http://armstreet.com/store/armor/turban-helmet-prince-of-the-east-functional-etched-helm for a photo.) I love the plate armour and helm with this set, but the mail is not as nice. (But it was inexpensive and I could use it to verify the correct si...

It's truely lovely.
I can't wait to give it a whirl!

Re: Looking for 1200AD Saracen or Fatimid or Iranian Gear
That last link from Lloyd would be much later than what you are looking for. William Lee has hit most of it...1200's you are lookin at a conical or spanghelm. Sliding nasals aren't around until the early 1300's (maybe late 1200's but I haven't seen any), I'd say leather lamellar for earlier 1200. I...

Re: Looking for 1200AD Saracen or Fatimid or Iranian Gear
Your most important part would be your helm. Try this: "Ironmonger Armoury Persian Helm" Add a tall mailled aventail and mailled hauberk from here: "Atlanta Armoury" "Master Knut's Welded Chainmaille Page" "Icefalcon Armoury - Riveted Maille" Get the plates for your lamellar klibanion to wear over ...

Looking for 1200AD Saracen or Fatimid or Iranian Gear
Can anyone recommend someone who would make good quality SCA combat legal armor from 1200AD Syria, Fatimid Egypt or Iran?
Contact info or a website url would be most helpful...
Thanks!

Andras, Mr. Price has *admitted* in this very thread that he has *not* paid royalties to his authors since 2007. As for further remedy being sought: count on it. All the best, Christian He has been accused of not paying royalties since 2000 or 2001 to some authors. He has been accused of fraud, for...

I'm serious about passing on your evidence to the appropriate authorities. If you have evidence of fraud or serious plagiarism, it's your duty to do so. If you are wrong about the quality or veracity of your evidence, you put Mr. Price in a position where he can mount a definitive defense. As it sta...

Lodge a complaint through their local chapter, perhaps, or send a letter explaining the position of the order, or even arrange a personal visit and appeal depending upon the situation. They can sue for civil damages for trademark infringement for th...

I generally fight with a 24" center-grip round. I do almost no sword blocks. Movement, distance control, binding techniques and controlled agression are the key with this style. I prefer to fight at very close quarters. If I'm not close enough to brush their teeth with my mustache, I'm not close eno...

In regards to the Midrealm and the BOD: http://www.daviddfriedman.com/Medieval/Restructuring.html Almost from the beginning, people in the Middle found the formal national organization to be a hindrance. Hey folks, so I've got this spiffy new hauberk bought from WT here on the AA. I've also got a nice new linen gambeson coming from Gmandragora. How do I keep the maille from rusting while still keeping the gambeson clean-ish and oil free? Thanks for the help all! Short of using aluminum, stainless s...

Like shields.
Those babies are just meant to have their edge slammed into someone's neck, face, collarbone, arm or thigh.

On an unrelated matter, I needed to know my membership number and expiration date. An Opportunity to become part of a Legend!
Warriors of the Midrealm, I have not had the pleasure of living in your fair realm, but I did have the honour in years past of being appointed on the field of battle to your Queen's Guard - from the opposing army. For this reason your kingdom has always had a special place in my heart. Those of you ...

Id object with all those harshly. They almost all incorporate grappling, blade seizures, strikes below the knee, and realistic shield sizes. Things not seen in the SCA. Hence the word 'adapt'...none of them depend on grappling, blade seizure, or strikes below the knee to work, and I see plenty of p...
