Right, so, I'm not here much, and pretty-much never post, but this comment just really pushed my buttons. ...I think with Brian he started out with the best of intentions. He wanted to share some great historical work and armour with people because it's something he's passionate about. I know there ...

Senan & Gwylym are definitely on top of my list, but I'd put my money on a handfull of people from the Midrealm against most of the others already mentioned - Warder Sir Logos, Warder Christian Fournier, Warder Cecil du Pont, Warder Terrence of Tynedale, Warder Maximilian der Zauberer Test us out so...

My bad. I've been reading research that is re-thinking the cultural renaissance of Italy as starting much earlier that the typical 1420ish standard thinking - too much information in the brain to sort through. My point still stands though - much of the basic under structure of the Bardi schools teac...

Just a historical note: Fiori's text is from the 15th century, well into the Italian Renaissance period. Not to mention that Fiori and the other "Bardi School" teachers kept similar combat concepts in their works from their earliest days through the end of the 16th century. Arming sword, Longsword, ...

Don't get to these boards much, but had to make a comment here: Period technique is alive and well in the SCA, and so is UNchoreographed play with STEEL blades - its called the Sidesword experiment. We study Marozzo, DiGrassi, and Agrippa mainly. Check with your Kingdom KRM to see who the deputy is ...
