"A number of people at Pennsic run multiple kits every year.. "spare" helmets are nothing new, or odd. It's not like they TAKE your helmet if you are caught doing something naughty. You can go up and get 8 helmets inspected with your medallion number, if you want." They certainly used to take your h...

Re: Weight Training for SCA fighting
While I am TOTALLY past my use by date when it comes to rattan, I do remember a couple of things from the mists of way back when... At one point I did all the typical weight training recommended above and they are exceptional. I added a couple more things that paid dividends. If your gym has a cable...

Leather Look Webbing
My search abilities just suck...
Some time ago we had a thread about webbing for strapping armour and someone posted a link to some nylon webbing that had a leather look cover bonded to it.
Anyone remember that?
Im retooling a harness for low maint and Id love to find that stuff.

Re: Looking for info on 14th century monks beds
At the Chartreuse monastery in Villaneuve les Avignon France I took some pics of the monks quarters and or cells with original 14th cent wooden furniture. From what I remember, the beds were built into a niche in the wall with storage underneath and surrounding. Oddly, they look like something you w...

Effigies in Abbey of Lehon, France
We were out wandering the countryside the other day and came across the splendid little Abbey of Lehon. The gardens were inspiring and the little cathedral held some nifty surprises for us. We had the whole place to ourselves, with the occasional cranky old caretaker wandering through the buildings ...

Something for the woodworkers...
Tried to get the best pics I could in pretty tight quarters of the man powered lifting gear for the lower gate at MSM. Hope this helps out some of the wood working crowd out there!

I contacted Panther this morning and as usual they were great. They recommended just spot treating the small leaks with camp dry and then something heavier like canvac if that doesnt work.

Thanks much.
We have been camping out of this pavilion for about 10 years, so I know how to set it up properly. Lord knows I have messed with it enough over the years.
I will call Panther tomorrow. Never considered that option for some stupid reason...

Best knee padding ever.
Never had an issue with the wool unraveling at all.

Panther Regent leaking issue
After it got really muddy during a bad storm last year, I set up my regent and gently washed it with very mild, non-detergent soap and a soft brush. It looks great! The only problem is now we get a small bit of leaking at the seam were the walls and roof join. The seam is covered with a wide cotton ...

It all depends on what finish you are going for. The plating kit you have wont turn non shiny items all mirror bright, its just laying down a minute layer of the material. Re: Ways to deal with non period camps around in the SCA
Its pretty much been ancient Calontir custom that period pavilions get royal courtyard and the best camping spots at wars(Lilies excluded), while non period get the low areas and non-tasty camping spots in the back. We openly call it the "nylon wastes". Subtle peer pressure seems to work well for us...

I personally dont like the shape of their stuff. The proportions of their patterns just look "off" to me. They sold a squire of mine a double bell wedge as "Sunforger". Not even close to the truth. The canvas they used is quite strong, just soft as hell and prone to stretching. As many have stated t...

Im looking to upgrade my kit with a nifty new chain. After digging through Raymonds and some random Google searches and I want to check here before I buy.
The perfect chain is a period or periodesque design and must be gold plated to match the rest of my garb for an upcoming ceremony.
Any thoughts?
