Re: 14th C German Chess Set
Thanks everyone. I purchased a set of commercial molds for the pieces, so the hard part was done for me. From there I cast the pieces in a casting plaster, painted them with a base coat of acrylic for the color and sealed them up with water based sealant. To get the low lights/ageing I coated them ...

Re: Pics that would inspire new guys. (UPDATE 8/31/2011)
I think that the caption may be wrong. I don't see that it can be the knights swearing fealty, as Duke Havordh is patently not from An Tir. Could it have been the HRM Ieuan was actually getting knighted himself? That would make more sense. I have seen other knighting ceremonies where the knights ho...

Too many variables and differences in each strike to give a specific force output number on it pretty much ever. The physics don't really matter though do they? One thing that ALL of us know regardless of the math is that these things, for whatever reason, hit a whole lot harder when thrown with th...

Re: Some physics for you
Greetings all, So one of the laurels I know (Master Bran Padric), who happens to also be an engineer, heard about this discussion and sent me a nice email that everyone might find interesting. Here is what he sent me: That is really terrible physics. Firstly it assumes PSI is important. Most of the...

Re: Illusion Armoring? comments??
Has anyone bought a helm from Illusion Armoring. I read that they have trouble meeting their deadlines but nothing about the quality of the helm Iain Iain, did you also ask this on the Merry Rose? From personal experience with a Norman that I bought from them AGES ago (heavy fighting) I found it to...

Big Atlantian heater shields get more abuse than any I have ever seen. That Bedford blocking style with the 24x36 catches almost all blows in the same two or three spots . They need to be super-tough so now I use a different coating method that is MUCH tougher than anything I have done before. It i...
