Re: Oval center-grip dimensions?
A True Oval is 2 circles with the sides connected by straight lines. My shield that I refer to as a oval is actually an Ellipse.
I'm 6'4" and my shield was traced off of a guy that was 5'4". It's 38"x23"

It has been tested in a lab and has been shown to be better then minimum requirements. Our rules state minimum as being heavy leather worn over .25" closed cell foam or equivalent. Unless that ruling is changed or another certified lab comes up with different results....all due respect to our curre...

After skimming through this I'll just let everyone know that #1 the SEM is indeed on here under the username SEM. #2 I've had to field the question a few times as to if Zoombang is legal. Just so everyone know it was considered "Equivalent" under Omerads tenure as SEM as he declared it to be so, But...

Re: WTB Spring Steel Boss
Weird, my stainless ones I've gotten from Sir Mrks aren't heavy at all and only my oldest one which is maybe 8+ years old at this point has a slight dent in it. I've handled several spring bosses and the weight isn't that much less and typically they are welded together which I'm not fond of as I've...

Re: An Tir May Crown
It may be obvious but per the Society Marshals Handbook under Weapons Standards/General Rule #5 states: "All weapons shall have all cutting edges and thrusting tips marked in a contrasting color." are there no striking edges on the swords? Both of their swords are wrapped in rawhide, and planed to a...

Re: Viking Boots Restocked at Viking Leathercrafts
Until Frank pops in I'll throw my answer out there. I have a pair of his lugged sole's and think of it as the bottom of a work boot only the sole is a little thinner but same sort of pattern. People keep throwing around Vibram Soles but Vibram is just a name brand and they sell 100's of different st...

Was typing it up and pretty much what Vikingleather Said about Zach White.. They will cut whatever width you want and find whatever length you want and have them spray the white finish on it if not it will be more greyish. I've ordered 40 or 50 blanks from them over the years.. I also like the white...

I've seen Bright Make your Eyes bleed red to almost Black with a Red Tint on it as squires belts, it's completely what the kinight chose to present to his squire at the time and how it may have aged. As others have stated White is the only reserved color of belts. I know no sumptuary laws in kingdom...

Re: 2" Mandrake tips suck and you all know it
I think its Munition Grade Arms that sells a 'solid' kit (its a 'solid' piece of compressible black foam.) I think they are the way to go now. I stock up on his single sword pieces at each war I go to. If I fought spear Id go with his foam and the but cap piece he sells to mount the spear tips on. ...

I was going to mention a Fan as a shield but you beat me to it.. there use to be a Samurai guy that I saw at Lillies that carried a Iron Fan made of plywood, he just wore a full gauntlet and cut a hand hole at the bottom to hold it.. What about using a modified Samurai War Fan: http://www.samurai-sw...

Re: 2" Mandrake tips suck and you all know it
I was at BAM and looked at the Helmet (did not have a marshaling tool but it looked like it was within specs), I also went and inspected the spear in question. The issue had nothing to do with the foam on the inside. The Foam in the mandrake tips is there to keep the head from bottoming out when it ...

Re: Madu blow up?
I hope that the effort of two years yields a more concise, better organized set of rules then the version posted. As I posted on the "Unofficial SEM" Facebook page, the Marshallate handbook has been a hodge podge of rules, badly laid out as a holdover from at least 1988, possibly earlier. I don't s...

It's got a Life Time Guarantee on it.. You should send it back to Bedford and tell him there seems to be a defect in it that has caused it to be heaver than expected and you would like it replaced..

I use the orange air hose that's sold by the foot at the large stores and cut down the side then cover it with pig suede and stitch it down around the edge. The Last Shield I just got sick of looking at and got rid of it after 3 years of pretty consistent use. I'm not a rawhide fan as my first few w...

These aren't Legal in Gleann Abhann. We only allow Fiberglass at 9feet. 6 foot Fiberglass Spears were pulled a number of years back. Don't quote me on it but I don't believe they are legal in Meridies either but I'll let someone from there speak on it. There is very little to no flex on a 6' piece o...

Re: 2" rattan in Meridies
This stems from a incident that happened at Gulf Wars although some in Meridies didn't care for larger rattan previously. Meridies feels it doesn't flex and is unsafe. . People aren't using rattan larger than 2" as tourney sticks they are using it as seal clubs and to make 2 handed weapons with it. ...

The way this tournament is laid out will make it interesting. Every Round being 2/3 with whatever weapon style gives the advantage to some in the list up until the finals. The finals is 4/7 Rotating Weapon Styles and I would put the advantage of those weapon styles distinctly in the corner of Cailli...
