Re: Breastplate from a can?
The two darts in the upper breast do make one think of kastenbruste, but the lower darts are not in the right place for that. I might make up another one of these that is specific to the kastenbrust. Mac I was thinking the exact same thing. "Man, some slight mods and that pattern could make a prett...

I will be there first weekend, then from thurs - Sat. Munitions Grade Arms has in the past sold rattan at Lilies. Re: Unique kinds of shields
As for the strapping position there are examples of heaters strapped just like that. With the hand/wrist down at the bottom point of the heater. As for operation? Since you can't punch people with your shield in the SCA, that style becomes a bit obtuse quickly. You end up taking away all the reason ...

Thanks.
I still have a few things I want to add. My boots and knee braces are horrible eye sores. I plan on getting new boots and building spats to help hide them.
Also, I need to figure out a way to to "plate" over my knee braces to give them a more medieval look.

IF I were doing a paintjob on a helmet this is how I would go about it. 1. clean the entire surface of the helmet. 2. using 100grit sandpaper sand the helm down to give the paint something to adhere to. 3. Clean the helmet again trying to avoid touching it with bare hands (wear gloves, the oil from ...

Yes, the padded hood / coifs are 100% cotton. The shoulder part is 1/4" thick and the hood part is 3/4" thick when uncompressed. It is a one size fits most sort of item. I'd say unless your head circumference is outside of the 22" to 24" range then you should be fine. The price with USPS priority s...

LF padded arming good/cap
I need a padded arming cap or better a hood that will pass SCA legal padding requirements. I would really like all natural fibers and padding. I have a 23.75" circumference head. Anyone out there have one? I kind of need it fairly quickly.
