Re: Next West Kingdom Crown Format
If you don't legislate your shield size then your kingdom will creep into big shields and long boring crowns. Once it happens you can never go back. Big shield winners will claim there is no shame hiding behind a war shield during a tourney and of course it must be right because they won a crown wit...

Re: Fighting culture in the Middle Kingdom
We don't have any issues taking arms.
Our tourney culture pulls strongly from our Crown list requirements so a majority of us fight with shields that are 30" or less.
Pennsic is a big deal for us (good and bad).
Gulf Wars is where we vacation.

Do your standards have a collar or is it a mantle that gets attached to a supporting collar underneath? (I hope I phrased that question in an understandable fashion)

Its something I'd really like to install on my turkish, but I just cant figure a way to drill a ton of holes in it without ruining the look.
Anyone have experience with the cloth liners as padding only and not part of a suspension system?

Is there a need to punch/drill stitching holes around the entire bottom edge of a helmet or is there another way of mounting a padded cloth liner?

Re: Armoured Combat in a University Club?
Double check your University regulations about weapons on campus. We've run into issues with fencing equipment before. Rattan was a pretty simple explanation. Live steel will pretty much always be a problem. Western Michigan University is home to a huge yearly academic medieval congress. It always p...

I've seen a few guys wearing ottoman harness in the BoTN videos. Does anyone know who made them? (I'm assuming an overseas armorer)

He runs a business that sells armor and I've never heard a bad thing about his business practices. He's one of two "been around forever" armor guys that I can say that about.
I really want him to get a different webpage/store presence. Every browser I have hates going to it.

Re: The War Shouldn't Be Over in June
Those numbers may not reach 50%, but let's not fool ourselves into thinking that it doesn't put the odds heavily in favor of one side. It also place the other 15 kingdoms into the position of "Be a counterweight on the scale or Pennsic will suck". Also its not just about numbers with those bigger bl...

Re: The War Shouldn't Be Over in June
We have 4 VERY big blocks of Kingdom (East, Mid, Aethelmearc, Atlantia) troops who fight at Pennsic. When 3 of the 4 are on one side then the war is pretty much over almost regardless of where the other 15 Kingdoms end up. Seems like its up to 4 guys to make Pennsic numbers even.

I had fun. I'm pretty sure every one of those guys would welcome criticism on their kits (myself included). In fact it would be really nice to see good shots of entire kits that were perfect for the deed and its time period so that those just getting into it can have a target. I was a little surpris...

Any thought to a thermal formed plastic suit? Assuming your actor will be in the system and you want him to be restricted/encumbered for the capture sessions. Aluminum seems like an excessive amount of handwork for something that will never be seen.

Which is why the Lost Boys battle is the only melee I give a rat's knackers about during the entire week.
I'd love a week of battles that didn't involve standing around in the sun waiting for someone to say go.
