LTB SS Norman Conical
I am in the market to buy a Norman conical helm in the late 12th century. Slat backs with some of SS welded chainmail (Master Knuts) on the helm. Does anyone have any armorers they would suggest? I have already looked at Windrose, White Mountain and IceFalcon. Just making sure I didn't miss anyone. ...

The spikes are close cell foam cut into squares. I use strapping tape to secure them onto the mace head. Cover them with silver duct tape and layer black duct tape around the spikes to give a nice contrast. The inspiration is from this The Morgan Picture Bible (aka the Maciejowski Bible) http://www....

Good gentles all, That was awesome! I mustered the chainmail groups against the 14th century. We almost won! Over all the kits are inspiring. I really liked the handmade socks from the 11th century guys. The Japanese kit was great! Vladimir, during the voting my wife thought you said I looked like I...

With Sean's help I have built the Topfhelm. My helm is all 12 guage stainless. Not a light helm at all. Mind you I have some of Knut's welded chainmail on there too. It's a great helm for demos and such. But I am returning to my old helm for a number of reasons. (Considering building a new norman co...

Grouping 3- 100+ With the above names in the list, I do not think that we will see a winner from the grouping below. This is not an insult, or saying that they might necessarily not go far, but I don’t think they will be able to pull out a win over the mega-dukes and current hot sticks above. Lor...

Fighting in a closed helm does take some getting used to. But getting rid of the bar grills makes it oh so worth it. Breathing... The air is hot but keeping your breath regular helps. Sight: Not really as much of an issue as some would think. It does take time getting used to but once you do you are...

Thanks for having it. I had a nice time. I agree with Brother Logan. I wish the SCA would have better looking kits. Oh well. Better to be the inspiration then the nag. Keep up the great work gang! To those that do where chainmail. Does long sleeves really interfere with arm motion/rotation?

Question: Chainmaile and one of Zweihammer helms
I have this. http://www.zweihammer.com/catalog/page,shop.product_details/flypage,shop.flypage/product_id,5/category_id,1/manufacturer_id,0/ The question is how do people attach the chainmaile in the front? I do not wish to drill a series of holes along the faceplate to attach the maile. So how have ...

12th Century Surcoats and painted helms
12th century marked the beginning of heraldry. Templars and other orders made use of it. This is nothing new. I would assume kingdoms and individual knights would use similar styles as well. Does this mean that those with a coat of arms would have a unique surcoat like we would see in later periods?...

Maybe Dave Womble misunderstood my post about modifying the helmet. The current helmet has no back. Not list legal. So add a back. But then again helmets of that kind didn't have backs right? So what about covering up the back with some chainmaile? Like WMA does with some of their helms? Does that c...

Ok, if you guys don't think the helm will have a long SCA combat life. Who then can make this type of helm that is SCA list legal? For a reasonable price then?
