Viking image

Hey all, couple of questions. Can someone if they know, tell me the source of the image attached (the second lower 'dragon' image). I have seen it around a few times but never the original and where it came from. The next question is I tend to put up questions asking about these types of art from ti...

Thanks for the replies, apologies if I left out some details. This armour will be used to protect against a variety of weapons, from wooden to metal (from chairs to swords). I did a browse on youtube after posting and found a few informative vids, like this one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vpkBKJ...

plastic (or other) armour construction

Hi all, just wondered if anyone knows of any resources/websites that I could use to help me make a few pieces of plastic totally farb armour for myself and a few others to reduce injury and hopefully not impede combat too much. Not sure what materials to use, but wont be using leather. I am consider...

Scandinavian viking age stone buildings and other structures

Hi all, I am interested in finding out more about viking age stone bulidings and other structures (not so much runestones). Everything I am seeing appears to be of a timber construction but apparently they did construct homes/buildings from stone. My knowledge on viking age buildings and such is onl...

I had thought about it and decided that it wasnt going to be that important to me that I keep within a specific style and therefore time period within the viking age. Provided that the artwork has obvious norse decoration I am happy with it at that. Most of the artwork will be in the form of beasts ...

Constructing viking age throne

I am in the position of making a Viking Age throne fit for a King (or Queen). I have got the basic visual of how I will carve and decorate the throne but I am just putting this out there to see if anyone can give me some good advice or pointers on the construction and assembly of the throne itself. ...

Flint

I've been requested by my wife to try and find someone who would be willing to do a trade for sending a piece of flint that can be used with a metal striker to make fire. She is happy to trade tablet weaving, create specific garb, handstiched banner, or some such. We are in New Zealand. If you are a...

Thrall collars

I came across reference to a statement that thralls wore collars to show that they were owned by masters. This was in a childrens book without any reference so I am taking it with a grain of salt. Can anyone confirm this? I would be interested to know if it is even factual and its sources and if so ...

I looks a bit like a hedgehog but I think it is actually a boar. Anyone seen it before?

Cheers.
