Re: Proper measurements for an oval shield

Hey Fergus, When I fought oval i used both 24"x36" and 22"x36" Are you thinking War fighting, tourney or both? Depending on the style of oval, you can get more surface area. Even though you are like 9' tall, 24 x 36" is what I'd call the common size in Caid and would work well for you (thats the si...

Thanks Konstantin. Not quite sure I understand. So take the pipe foam insulation (long tubes with a cut lengthwise) and make like vertical ridges inside the helm?

Re: Padding the Helm

I'm re-padding a sugarloaf helm. My liner shifted after a stout blow resulting in a small boo-boo to my eyebrow. Of course that small boo-boo turned into a black eye that made it look much worse than it was. So, back to the re-padding. I've tried various methods, but need something to pad my helm qu...

Louis, Welcome to the archive. It would help to know a little bit about you. Where are you located in the world? How big are you? etc. Please remember that Armourers are 'artists' who make things with their hands (using tools of course). For Armour, generally there is Fast, Cheap, Good and you have ...

Re: Ironmonger Armoury

How big is your great helm? My head is kind of big. Like 25 inches around, measuring where a baseball cap would sit. Welcome to the Melone Grande club. I have a 25 1/4" melon. You can find helms for large heads, but it will definitely take some work. Ironmonger is an excellent place to start. Also,...

Welcome to the archive! If you could provide some more info, we could potentially help you better. Do you have a budget? How big are you (do you need custom or 'off the rack')? Brig vs Corrazina, which would you prefer? Personna/region? Do you want plastic, mild steel, stainless, spring steel, sprin...

If you search the Archive (I'm way too lazy to search myself and give you a link ;-) ), Brother (now Count Sir) Amos the Pious posted pics documenting the way he covered a pair of lacrosse gloves to match the Mac Bible look. (He also subsequesntly added mail over that, which he also documented.) He...

You could use lacrosse gloves (covered), but that wouldn't necessarily give you the correct look.
