Re: Looking for reviews on IceFalcon TI mail

I have an XL 3/4 sleeves (on me) and about mid thigh length. It rocks like Slayer. Light, generously constructed where it needs to be, movement is good and I have had zero failures. No discoloration other than the normal spots where one would expect it to show wear. Even better than the item itself ...

I wear a Bregg Tradition X2K (no ACL in left knee) I can't fight in it, the VA won't buy me another one. (I broke a Donjoy Goldpoint at Pennsic 29) but it's a bad-ass piece of equipment, it also cost 1700 bucks. I just wrap mine and hope it doesn't subplex.

Seriously, though. Not to gainsay Mac, because lord knows he's forgotten more about armor and it's accouterment than I will ever know. An orle is (at least in heraldry)a subordinary made up of a narrow band on the inside where a bordure would be, they follow the inside outline of the shield but in f...

Re: Help needed with the making of a Surcoat!

Here is a very basic drawing of a surcoat pattern. I would finish all the edges first, if you have a serger, use it, if not a simple zig-zag stitch will keep in from unraveling and looking like a rappeling tower for a garden gnome. Sew the gores in (they give you that full, flowing look that you wan...

Re: Help needed with the making of a Surcoat!

Here is a full length surcoat of mine. It's basically a large tunic pattern from shoulder to waist then a flair to the proper length. If you make it with seams up the middle of both front and back it makes it easier on you when you finish the edges and attach the quarters. edited for my third grade ...

Some interesting pointers. Leather is, of course, the obvious choice, though it's not as cheap as you'd suppose. Over here I'd have to buy a whole hide for what amounts to US$160...bit steep considering I only want I small-ish piece. Brettun's Village Leather sells remnants. You can contact them vi...
