Re: FS - Klapvizor Bacinet - Too Big for me
So there is no significant gaping from the visor and the helm near the bottom that might render this illegal for SCA use? That would depend upon the individual wearing it, the size and shape of the head, what type gorget is being worn, how it is padded etc. Where the face-plate narrows and comes aw...

Re: -= sale =- -= 3 bascinet=- -=sale=-
I received the ziten klapvisor, and it is gorgeous! The polish on it is very nice, lines are crisp and smooth, and it has one extremely beefy latch! The only thing wrong with it is the size, for me it is just too big and that is no fault of Hammerbreaker, there are some things that even good measuri...

Re: Klapvizor Bacinet - Too Big for me
Oh, this helmet has a Hammerbreaker liner already installed, the crown of it is not sewn so you get to set your "height" to your own head. Also includes the cut leather for the aventail. (It still has the riveted aventail on it, but I think I am going to keep that) If someone does want it with flat ...

Sold - Klapvizor Bacinet - Too Big for me
Recently purchased from Hammerbreaker, I was very excited to see one of the klapvisors I really dig in my size. Unfortunately it is still too big for my noggin. I have a 22 1/4" head and this has too much slop, someone with a 23 1/3 -24 would fit very well. I would like to turn this around fairly qu...

Re: Gauging interest in Western Martial Arts gloves
One of the things I have noticed over the last few years, both about fencing gloves and some of the wma gloves is the thickness/quality of leather can be an issue in use. Not that the leather is not of good quality, just often that it is thin and splits easily. It is nice leather just not as durable...

Re: Tips on using a wire wheel in a hand drill to clean/poli
I second both Sean's and Halberd's notions, either secure the piece well, or the drill. Do not try to manage both drill and piece, aside from potential danger it is time consuming and spotty on the finish. Watch any edges, corners, and especially gaps/interior angles or folds. The wheel will grab th...

Re: Gold Samurai Armour - a question of complementary colors
I am going completely off board and going with something very historical, navy/indigo. Black tends to look dingy after a while, the indigo tends to become more vibrant blue over time (if real) or somehow seem less yucky over time. (maybe it comes from looking at historical ones) but then again I am ...

It is very sad, and as stated bold of you for sharing, I think I would have silently cried in the corner. (especially since I lust after those style helms) I am curious though so will ask: 1800-1900 F sounds way too high for case hardening mild sheet steel. I was taught never to exceed 1500, with 12...

Beech can also work if you can find a nice dense grain one, it is heavier, but it is very durable and can keep nice crisp corners.
Slow grown euro variety tighter grain and preferred.

A couple of years ago I ordered the off-set-ball stake from you and a took holder. Ok, I have not read through all pages so I might just be saying something already said before... But before I get all twisted in view by the other replies, I will share my thoughts. they are fairly easy to make, if you have a lathe with a chuck... Cut a piece, chuck it up, turn the taper, pop a drill into the "free-end" and bore it to a blind end. Do the same for the valve, then drill a taper that matches the valve body, insert and viola... Now if you don't have a lathe like th...
