Re: SCA rebated steel?
From my KDEM (Duke Ullr) on the Midrealm Marshals FB page from 7/13/20 "Marshals, There were a number of points discussed and approved at this past weekends BOD meeting for inclusion at Society level. Inclusion at Society does not mandate inclusion by Kingdoms. At this time, and until the pandemic ...

You might want to join http://www.landsknecht.org/ and the FaceBook group. It is so hard to find off the shelf Landsknecht guarb and armour that I pretty much just gave up and made my own. There are some "genero-landskencht" pants and tops on Ebay. https://www.google.com/search?q=landsknecht+pants&c...

I wanna be a 16th century highland scot Hope it can include Kilt and greatsword Would prefer it not require chainmail This is for an SCA persona. I'm open to persona background. Re: I wanna be a LANDSKNECHT
I also remembered that you could go a bit earlier as well (1500 - 1520) and use the armour of a light lancer. The later armour would have a Maximillian fluted surface and separate gauntlets. ad_paum_l.jpg These images are not very good, sorry about that. :( These depict armour from the late 1540's,...

A new fighter here recently brought the Hungarian Black Army to my attention: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Black_Army_of_Hungary I am embarrassed to say that I was not aware of this very significant military entity. They tended to wear blacked plate armour including sallet helms. They used a type o...

Re: making a tent -how to treat the canvas?
About 10 years ago, Thompsons chaged their formula, and it doesn't work as well on fabrics now - the tentmaking community was crushed, as it had been a go-to for a lot of us. Since we live in a RAINforest, local shops carry a number of other water sealers. Some contain copper which would stain the ...

18th century reenactors I knew used Thompson Water Sealer for canvas and camp rugs. It leaves no bad smell, sheds water, and even cleans old rugs while turning them into ground cloths.

Re: WTB/WTT: looking for a Zischagge helm, SCA legal.
I have a helm like this. It is mild steel and has a nice fluted top. The bar grill needs attached to suit you - it has the holes for 4 simple bolts if you like. Unpadded. The bargrill does not come down very far so it will not work for a long necked fighter. I would be interested in possible barter ...

Re: Anyone with experience with RingMesh and similar product
I own some Azon mail. I can barely feel that I am wearing it and it looks neat under armour but is not much protection by itself. After a few years I do need to take advantage of their flat rate repair service to fix the moth holes. Worth the price.
