Well I wonder what the difference in weight is between 6061 t6 alum and abs plastic is,then figure how much thicker the plastic has to be to be equql in strength of the aluminum. If its a significant difference then its worth using plastic. Also plastic might be a lot easier for your average person ...

what style are you looking for. I do 3 types of metal demis. 1 piece hourglass. wisby style set with a separate thumb plate and splinted cuff. also a simple 3 piece basic demi. the prices on these would vary on how much shaping and detail work.

Re: need a Helm for Battle of the Nations style combat
some of the big reasons why the spring steel is failing is because the owners believe they can use thinner metal then instead of denting it will crack and tear. i would not even suggest goin thinner then 12ga for the top no matter what material.

I would say number 3. the 3 lame design will give it better protection and the thumb looks good and easy to make. please dont use 16ga hot rolled, make is cold rolled,a good portion of the sca hot rolled would be fine but other cold rolled would barely be fine.

for a hammer for dishing the hammer that Halberds here on the archive sells is great. its a steel ball with a shaft welded to it then a handle welded off that shaft, very simple but very effective. I great way to smooth out you pieces is dishing with as big of a ball as you can fit inside it. http://...

Re: Dishing, how do you do it?
take a peicce of plate steel thats about 6inches around and half inch thick and heat it to yellow hot (the hotter the better) and dish it into your dishing form which will mess up a wood dishing form but you wont need it anymore. if you dont have a welder just set this dish into your wood form and d...
