My information may be a bit dated as I havent played in a while, but I recall that the need for a basket or other protection was rescinded some time ago as long as the hand was at least 4" from all edges of the shield.

Klaus the visor alone is worth the price, in my opinion. Gwen and Artos have a new fighter here who might be interested in the helmet but is unlikely to want the visor. So maybe we can talk.

If it fit me I would have used it by now - even I cant really get my head in it.

I don't unfortunately. It looks pretty much identical to the example in the panther catalog except for the seam striping, mine does not have that.
