Just that. My portrayal is supposed to be 14th century Scot, and I was wondering what the regional contemporary equivalent to a scutum would be. I know pavasies showed up in Italy around that time, I think.

They had a descent sole that was not too grippy but not slippery as hell. They've gone the way of the dodo, and now I need to get footwear for SCA fighting. Any recomme...

Buttons for a gambeson...
I have a gambeson that didn't come with buttons for reason that are beyond me.
It has button holes, but not buttons. WHat's the best way to attach buttons to a gambeson? Is there are a particular type that is better to use?
Thanks

Looks like he charges almost as much as you'd expect for steel pieces. How good is this stuff, anyone use it yet? I used their breast plate for years. It worked very, very well. Never a crack or any other issues. It will need some sort of covering to meat authenticity requirements. I had plans to c...

If you use a pair of finger gauntlets that aren't quite as protective as you'd like them to be, you can use these to defuse the force of the blows you receive without giving up much, if any of the dexterity you get by using finger gauntlets. An example of finger gauntlets: https://lh4.googleusercont...

Two sets... First up is a set of Mercenary Tailor finger bucklers. These are mild steel, have never been used, but have still managed to pick up a rust spot despite doing not but sitting on my shelf. I went from 270 lbs to 190 lbs from August of '11 to January of this year. My biggest concern was being able to still throw a good shot, and to rebuild some of the muscle I lost as part of losing all that weight. I was doing great at getting to practice till I broke my elbow. Went several weeks in a row without missing, for several months.
I still suck at getting to events and fighting though.
