I believe it was roger ascham that prescribed the proper length of a longbow should be the height of the archer plus a fistmele (~4"-5"). This would lessen the likelyhood od snapping the bow on an overdraw.

I'm glad you like it. I used it exclusively at Pennsic a few years back.
