Mine arrived in Australia yesterday. I was a little panicked when a mesh sack was handed to me and I realised what the package was but inside it was in a well protected cardboard box. It is a very nice book

Re: FS- Historically Patterned 6mm mail standards ready to s
Yep ya'll should jump on these. I bought one. I have been slack and havent finished it off yet but the quality is great and with the leather edging I have put on it around the neck everything seems to sit perfectly. The 6mm mail moves and sits so much nicer then the larger stuff. It is a top quality...

Re: Medieval Fight Club
They are based just down the road from me. I had a look at one of their Jupons. It was very similar to my Italian Zuparello from Revival.us in terms of build construction. Fit was about the same to. I didnt end up buying one as my other one was sufficent and i switched my main fighting kit to an ear...

Re: D3o (like zoombang) under a soft helmet liner?
I use 661 evo mountainbike elbow pads that are made of d3o pads on my elbows underneath torvald bazubands. I switched from basically the same brand only without the d3o (normal eva foam). I do not notice any difference when i am hit on the elbow bits covered by the the bazubands ie i dont think ther...

anyone done a reconstruction of the king rene breastplate?
Just wondering if anyone has attempted a reconstruction of the breastplate shown in the King Rene tournament book? http://www.greydragon.org/dw20yc/Rene-4.jpg Also for those familiar with the book I know it mentions leather armour but am I right in assuming that this was limited to the arms with rop...

They dont look wax hardened to me either. One my non wax hardened stuff i usually just put them in a bucket of hot water, remould to shape and then put them in the oven at a very low heat or infront of the fireplace or on the back seat of the car in full sunlight on a hot day to let the moisture dry...

Re: 1st half of 15th Century Gorget
I think it is an evolution. First it was open face bascinets then there are the bascinets get visors with chain drapes then a lame riveted on under the visor to protect the throat then the back of the helm starts to extend down and finally the throat plate becomes a solid fixture. You are slowly tra...

I bought a set from mrks unfinished. They are awesome for the price. One of my mild steel helms resembles this shade. Basically just used a scotch bright pad and black shoe polish. It slowly darkened up over time with the build up of polish and a bit of surface rust

I applied black die and it took slowly, took a while but it eventually got quite black. I then used black shoe polish and it bl...

Re: FS: Spring steel bucklers *SOLD*
Got to use my buckler last night from this batch for some SCA combat. It was smaller then I am used to be so damn light it totally compensated for the slightly smaller size. Held up just fine no dents or anything, good loud distinctive clang and it was just urging me to punch someone with it. Resist...
