Re: Spear and Shield Combat Interest
Your opponent is also permitted to grab your spear haft. Carry and practise drawing and striking with a seax (or whatever a knife is called in your century). Often your opponent is too close to see what you're doing making it much easier to stab them a few times*. B *Nota bene some people will not ...

Re: Butted aventail??
It's worth mentioning that while rivetted does stand up much better it does still get moth holes and they're more of a pain to fix since you then need rivets and a setting tool as well as links and unless you made the whole lot yourself you may have to shop around to find a good match.

The royal rumble's a good idea but why stop there - any of the circle/last man standing type fights work with until x number of wins too which adds a tactical element. I would guess the biggest problem is the fit of your current armour, so I would suggest either something that adjusts well such as lamellar or using a breastplate. I modified my Windrose hilt by drilling, tapping, and inserting a hex set screw. The screw is long enough to bite into the rattan keeping the hilt from spinning or moving and sits flush at the hilt surface so that it's nearly unnoticeable. Tape the blade and grip snug to the hilt for added durabili...

Hi,
Does anybody have any experience of these gauntlets, or the company in general?

If you've seen a pair in the metal, so to speak, would you let a sword brother buy them?
Cheers

Very interesting. I don't know that you would see a dormant table like that in a camp, but rather in the setting you see it in, or a part of a manorhouse inventory. Keiran, While making an axe head is not actually too hard if you've never made one and never used one it wouldn't be too hard to get a sub optimal result. Not ready to drop the cup hilt, but any suggestions of where to go would be nice. That's a nice kit. I'd go with long sleeves to cover the arms. Mail might be more typical than lamellar.
